Velvet Voice, Raindear – #V-EB15/SP10EN (SP)

[CONT](Deck):While it is revealed by a card’s effect, it is regarded as a trigger unit instead of a normal unit. [AUTO](VC):At the end of the battle it attacked, COST [discard two cards from your hand], reveal ten cards from the top of your deck, and if all of the normal units revealed have different card names, ride up to one of the revealed cards not named “Velvet Voice, Raindear” as [Stand], shuffle your deck, and that unit gets drive -1 until end of turn. At the end of this turn, put that unit on the bottom of your deck, and ride a grade 3 card from your soul as [Rest].

Okay I have…almost no real opinions on Highlander as a deck, simply because of how many cards have to be low in copies so every single time you play it’s going to be something entirely different. In a vacuum you -2 to then +1 and gain hopefully another Force Gift, then you ride Raindear again to get another Force. On the downside because of her Higlander requirements you first have to draw and ride her, with no way to actually hard-search Raindear reliably.

I guess that’s what the second skill is for though, since in deck she’s treated as a trigger, so it doesn’t interfere with the normal unit clause, allowing you to run 4 of her, but that’s still not brilliant odds – I’ve whiffed adding the X to my hand with Igniroad Dragon enough times since the number of available targets isn’t all that high.

Highlander is just a deck for the memes. I like that it has a boss to centre around at least, but it’s still takes more effort than Riviere and at least there’s a feasible safety net in Riviere.
