Raidraptor – Strangle Lanius – #PHRA-EN005

If you control a DARK monster: You can Special Summon this card from your hand, also you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except DARK monsters. If you control an Xyz Monster with a DARK Xyz Monster as material: You can target 1 Level 4 or lower “Raidraptor” monster in your GY; Special Summon it, but its effects are negated. You can only use each effect of “Raidraptor – Strangle Lanius” once per turn.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Raidraptor – Strangle Lanius can be used in MANY decks within the game only as an extender would be an understatement.

Having a DARK monster on the field equals this Special Summoned which gets you Extra Deck plays depending on your strategy. Sure, locks you into DARK Special Summon monsters for the rest of the turn…DARK being the most supported Attribute in the game so…no worries. Good ATK and as a Level 4 can be useful for some DARK Rank 4 shenanigans. Beyond it being an extender for any DARK-based deck in the game, it is a Monster Reborn for Raidraptor monsters (in conjunction with there being an Xyz monster with a DARK Xyz as a material on the Xyz monster). While that last bit of text felt like a lot for a Raidraptor reborn with effect(s) negated, it isn’t hard to accomplish. You likely have all of that on the field before dropping Lanius, which will get you into another Rank 4 with the summoned Raidraptor and Lanius. Force Trix is the likely Xyz you’ll be making with Lanius and the Raidraptor you bring back. Combine that with the Rank-Up spells that allow you to get to Xyz monsters that may not be DARK but used DARK Xyz as materials and this card kicking out both effects in a turn are pretty good for Raidraptors.

Splashable as another monster on the field for DARK-based strategies, but more a great tool for its archetype, Lanius is a welcome addition for Raidraptor.

From a new PK monster in the Main Deck to a new Raidraptor card we now have Raidraptor – Strangle Lanius.

Strangle Lanius is a Level 4 DARK Winged Beast with 1600 ATK and 1000 DEF. Kinda like PKs, Raidraptor stats aren’t too relevant either since they’re usually Xyz Materials, and it keeps the good Raidraptor stats as well of being a Level 4, DARK, and Winged Beast. If you control any DARK monster, you can Special Summon this card from the hand, but you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of the turn that aren’t DARK monsters. If there’s any Attribute I’d want to be locked to, DARK is probably the best one, and you can summon your non-DARK monsters before you use Strangle’s effect like to use Soul Shave Force to revive a Force Strix and summon Cyber Dragon Infinity. A free body on board is also nice. Strangle Lanius also has the effect where if you control any Xyz Monster with a DARK Xyz Monster as material, you can target a Level 4 or lower Raidraptor monster in your graveyard and Special Summon it in Defense Position with its effects negated. Speaking of using Soul Shave Force for Infinity, you’d basically have the setup for this effect right there to revive your Level 4 RR and go for another Rank 4 Xyz to continue your line of plays. Two Special Summon effects on one card is great, especially since you can use both in a turn considering you can only use each effect once per turn and not only one effect a turn. Strangle Lanius is a pretty good piece of Raidraptor support, similar to how Torn Scales was a good piece of PK support.
