Lets close the week with what people call the Counterblast-fee Nextage. On paper, yeah, this is better than Nextage, ignoring the race-specific cost. But Gearnext vs Gear Groovy with Nextage? Gearnext has merit if no face-up damage is available, but Gear Groovy has a few advantages. The first being that he morphs back into Chronojet G after attacking. This is huge when you want to add columns to your rear-guards, which Gearnext can’t do: he stays on the Vanguard circle. But that also means he keeps any Critical triggers foisted on him…argh, let’s just list the advantages of Groovy-Nextage vs Gearnext:

Gearnext: CB free, keeps Critical triggers, can pay cost from field not compromising guard quality.

Gear Groovy-Nextage: Chronojet G makes RG columns, Huang-long fetches desirable cards, more combo potential generally.

Conclusion: Just run both and use whatever’s relevant to the situation. This is a solid Mid Game card but Gear Groovy will probably end more games.
