Normally this is the part where we’d sneak in stuff from the upcoming Extra Booster, but since I completely forgot it, I guess my punishment for blowing like three COTD slots on crap like Shirayuki last week is to review Aqua Force THIS week. So here’s new Blue Waves, starting with this. Now this is a bit of a mixed bag. On one hand, having a re-standing Vanguard as a first Stride is pretty awesome. What ISN’T awesome is that he’s -2 and you don’t Drive Check anything back until you hit GB3, so if he’s first Stride you’d better hope that Dagger Master Dracokid and Brutal Trooper can make the difference up, but asking for both is a bit of a stretch at times, and I tend not to assume best-case scenario. The -2 from hand wouldn’t have been a big ask, but considering cards like Galeas need to sort of KEEP hand and so do you for the opponent’s next turn, that’s a bit much.

5 Drive Checks if he’s second Stride’s pretty good, goes further than Tetra Boil. So if nothing else run him for that. Otherwise, first Stride should be something more reliable like Alexandros. Or if you G Guarded Tetra Boil.

What’s up, Rogue Squad?!  So, before we all go venturing in the forest to look at plants, insects and wildlife, we get to look at…*sigh*…Aqua Force…God, I know CardfightKing is having a field day with this one…anyway, let some have a look at Blue Wave’s newest G Unit: Flood Hazard Dragon.  On paper, a first Stride restander sounds great on paper…until you see that the second attack doesn’t get any drive checks at all whatsoever and can cost you a nice chunk of your hand unless you play Brutal Trooper and Dagger Master to help compensate the cost.  On the flip side, however, going into him second stride while you’re at GB3 makes him a bit more solid as 3 drive checks with 2 attacks then becomes 5 drive checks with the same 2 attacks, so the cost isn’t as painful that time around.  Hell, I’ve seen some Aqua Force players even tech this as a 1-of just so they have can utilize the Quad Drive against their bad matchups (ie Overlord, Link Joker, Megacolony, etc.), so it’s not that bad, but most people prefer to use Alexandros…like there needs to be a reason why…this is gonna be a long week…🙄
