So let’s continue with our mermaid idol toys until Standard Format tides us over. G4 Alk here has one clear purpose, and that’s to bounce an entire column at least and call to generate at least one more attack in. As a first Stride, you’re basically cleaning a column, which isn’t really new but it’s functional. When the GB3 is online, what you’ve got is Olyvia, except meatier columns but only 1 damage at a time. Which is probably better overall given the timing, since at least you don’t bounce the entire field if you don’t want to (yay for the ‘up to’ clause) so the front row units in Harmony can swing unboosted for the next wave of attacks…as long as the G1s behind have Harmony themselves, anyway.

Not particularly unique, but it does things.

What’s up, Rogue Squad?!  So, after getting a taste of some mermaid idols last week, this week, we’re…looking at more mermaid idols…delightful…anyway, today, we’re looking at the new Alk G Unit…which kinda surprised me that Alk even got a G Unit considering there wasn’t much to Alk as a regular unit to begin with, but personal feelings aside, Alk’s base skill is extremely similar to a certain Grade 2 that almost every non-archetype Bermuda Triangle build runs: Spica, but the difference is that it allows multiple bounces and two calls regardless of how many cards you bounce.  This is nice, since it allows for multiple attacks and can continuously apply pressure, however, I truly only see this as a bigger Spica in the end, even with the GB3, and if your deck already runs Spica, then there should be minimal reason to run Alk.

Artwork: 1.5/5 (Arguably one of my least favorite artworks in the set, if not maybe the game for its blandness.)

Next Time: Only natural for a PG to become a G Guardian.

Go Rogue…Go Pro…and Fight the Meta!!!
