The Breaking Ruin God

The Breaking Ruin God – #MP22-EN274

The activation of this card, or its effects, cannot be negated, nor can its effects be negated. Special Summon 1 “Obelisk the Tormentor” from your hand or GY, and if you do, it is unaffected by your opponent’s card effects this turn. If you Tribute 2 or more monsters you control at the same time to activate your card or effect, while you control “Obelisk the Tormentor”: You can banish this card from your GY; banish all monsters in your opponent’s GY, and if you do, inflict 500 damage to your opponent for each. You can only use each effect of “The Breaking Ruin God” once per turn.

We come to Obelisk this weekend for his 2 brand new cards to try and make an Obelisk Deck viable, starting with The Breaking Ruin God.

Breaking Ruin God is a Quick-Play Spell whose activation and effects can’t be negated, so ensuring if this is activated, it goes off. So the first effect that you activate this for lets you Special Summon an Obelisk the Tormentor from your hand or graveyard that’s unaffected by your opponent’s card effects that turn. It’d be nice to get an unaffected Obelisk on the field if it wasn’t for the fact that it’ll send itself to the grave at the end of the turn. You could just get it on your turn to swing for 4000 I guess, cause on the opponent’s turn it’ll just sit there. Second effect triggers if you tribute 2 or more monsters you control for your card or effect while you control Obelisk the Tormentor, letting you banish this card from the graveyard to banish all monsters in the opponent’s graveyard and deal 500 damage to them for each. I guess it’s nice to try and finish out the game with this just for using Obelisk’s effect, similar to the anime. There should be a convoluted FTK with this, so there’s somewhat of a plus. Hard once per turn on each effect as is standard for modern cards. Obelisk support tends to be underwhelming and this is no exception. He’s the best Egyptian God just based on his own effects on his own and the fact he has base stats, but that doesn’t cut it anymore. Maybe we’ll eventually get better cards for Obelisk.
