The tournament had three rounds and I was first paired against Jason

Match#1

He wins the dice roll and goes first; he starts off playing canyon and placing one monster face down. On my turn I set gravity bind and place des Lacooda face down and end. He tributes his face down monster and for a face down monster, I set swarm of scarabs and flip Des L. to draw a card and flip him face down. He flips Great Sphinx and sends my monsters back but he does not attack and just flips his Sphinx face down. In order to keep from discarding I set Swarm of S. and end. This cycle continued for another two turns when I draw torrential Tribute which I set as well as Unshaven Angler, He flips his Sphinx and I activate Torr. After that not much happened as I was able to get alo and summon my Erias and Gagagigos. The second Duel was much less exciting as I was able to get ALO early on and my high powered monsters were able to destroy his defensive rock types.

Record: 2-0

After that I reported my results and walked around, my little brother managed to beat a zombie deck which had beaten him before so all was well.

Match #2

I forget this kids name but he ran a Dark World deck. I won the dice roll and summoned Eria and set Ordeal. And ended, he summons Zure plays Dark World Lightning and summons Goldd and attacks my Eria I activate Ordeal. He guesses right for Goldd to destroy my Eria but misses when attacking with his Zure. For the next few turns I draw nothing until I manage to get another Eria. I summon Eria activate alo and play Riryoku to destroy Goldd, on his turn he activates another Dark World Lightning but discards Double Attack. I take the attack from his Zure. (He got lucky guessing with Ordeal) On my turn I summon Homunculus and attack but he activates Negate attack I set Sakuretsu and end. On his turn he activates Mystic Plasma Zone and attacks my Homunculus but his Zure gets hit with Sakuretsu. On my turn I play Terraforming and attack with Homunculus for the win.

The next duel I do not remember well but I do know that the way I won was by using Abyss Soldier to send his dark Necrofear to his hand and attack. Aside from that I cannot remember the rest of the duel.

Record: 4-0

Feeling rather upbeat and thinking this would be a repeat sweep I was disappointed to hear my brother lost his match 0-2.

The final match I had was against my “Rival” Josh. While we were good friends the two of us used the two most dominant decks and were tied for first. Josh runs a Lv. Deck with Horus Mystic and Silent Swordsmen and Silent Magicians.

Match#3

The first duel was great for me as he drew nothing and I was able to set up a lock using Gravity Bind, Swarm of Scarabs, and Dess L. He broke up the lock with a mirror force but I was able to rebound with a Gagagigo and an Unshaven angler for the win.

The Second duel was the exact opposite of the first, I drew crud and by the time I drew what I needed he had a Mystic Swordsman Lv.6 and a Horus Lv. 8 dominating the field.

The Final duel I won only because he shot himself in the foot by activating Royal Decree to stop a Sakuretsu but it ended up hurting him when I seized the upper hand.

Afterwards I was surprised to find on kid who had won his last match 2-0, and now had the same score as myself, won. I guess since he won his last match 2-0 and I won mine 2-1. I learned also that my brother lost again 0-2 so I tried cheering him up with some of my 12 dollars of prize money.

Pros:

Beating Josh

Going 6-1

Getting 2nd (its better then nothing)

Getting the Warrior deck

Cons:

Not winning

Having my little brother go 2-4
