Redwood City Tourney


Subject: GGP Control-Redwood City Tourney May 16,2005 - Lizz

My deck is a Beastdown trample relying on defense as well as offense to win every match. I also don't use every staple like every deck those such cards as Mirror force and Tribe Infecting Virus and Magician of Faith. I will tell you the reason later in this report.

About only 5 people showed up (3 of them was my 2 friends and me). Before the tourney started there was a long period of time when we had to wait for the tournament organizer to come. After about 20-30 minutes of waiting we finally started the tourney.

My friend had a bye and my other friend had to face this kids dad. I was the one facing the kid himsel.

Round 1 GGP Control vs. Machine/Chaos
Match 1
I didn't know what kind of deck he ran, but I suspected some weird Noob deck. Anyway he went first set one card and 1 s/t and ended. I drew a hand consisting of Graceful, BoM, Heavy storm, Breaker, Berserk and some other card I forget. I broke his S/T with Breaker, attacked his facedown and it was a Y Dragon head so nothing happens. On his turn he switches his Y in attack and attacks plus activates 2 Limiters doing 4400 damage to me. I summoned Berserk and set 1 BTHole and attacked for 2000 damage, He was at 6000-3600Lp. On his turn he basically went to defense and activated the following traps in consecutive turns when I attacked with Berserk and Enraged Battle Ox, Magic cylinder, Mirror Force and Ring, but even that wasn't enougth to finish me when I summoned GGP with 5 tokens on the field I pretty swept his whole life points.

2nd Match
It only lasted 2 turns. This is what happened
1st-he set one monster and 1 S/t adn ended.
1st-I summoned berserk attacked, he cylindered adn ended I ended my turn.
2nd-he flipped cyber and got X,Y, premature burial,heavy and Coth while I just got junk. He summoned Z, fused them all to get the almighty Xyz dragon Cannon. Then he summoned BLs, activated XYZ dragon cannon to destroy all cards on the field on my side and attacked for 7200LP damage. GG for me.

3rd Match
All I remember was that I side decked in 2 Royal Oppresion and that they came through for me and I pretty much negated everything he did with it as well as maintaining good life points. Go Nimbles.

Round 2 GGP Control vs. ALO Water Chaos

My friend had a total of 3 monsters who could blow up the field and 1 one who could blow up everything but itself so you could tell i was worried already, plus I already faced him in a fun match and lost 4/5.

1st Match
He summoned Mermaid knight and played ALO and set one S/t and ended. I summoned Enraged attacked he activated Tornado wall so no more trample damage to him. He next summoned Terrorking Salmon the monster with 2400Attack and only costs 4 stars with ALO on the field. Attacked my Enraged and ended. Next turn I summoned berserk placed a CotH on the field, got rid of ALO thanks to MSt, attacked his salmon with Berserk and activated BoM to kill it. from there on his hand was full of trib monsters and he couldnt recover from the onslaught of Enraged, Berserk, and GGP with 3 tokens on his field.

2nd Match
I side decked in 2 Royal oppresion, 1 Dust Tornado and 1 Cursed forbidden Seal. Well it helped a little but he got out the monster that blows up everything including your hand and pretty much wins. Damn cheapness.

3rd Match
I side out the cursed seal of forbiddend adn side in 1mirror force. We started to deal LP to each other left and right until he got out his Big monster witch then I countered wtih BoM to get rid of it. Then couple of turns later MST and BTHole provide my defense and my GGP, Berserk and enraged the finished hte job. GG.

Final Round GGP Control vs. Kit with a DMoc Stall?
Kit was the father of the little boy who came to the tourney with him.

1st Match
He went first and activated 2 Diffrent Dimension Capsule and ended. I summoned Berserk and placed 1BoM and attacked witch he took the damage. On his following turn he placed a monster in defens and ended. I drew a breaker and broke teh diffrent dimension capsule with DMoc and attacked his F/d withc was a Sinister Serpent. and attacked with Berserk. On his following turn he forgot about DDcapsule and then he activated Dimension Fusion in which I argued you can't activate if your opp. has no monster in his RFG pile, he argued back saying you can. Well I let him have it since I wasn't in the talking mood. He summond DMoc and pounded me with him and Jinzo for the next 2 turns. I quickly switched that wit a Lightning vortex and pretty much won when I activated Premature burial, Coth and summoned GGp with 3 tokens on his end and attacked, and on hte following turn activated RoD on my GGp to deal 2800lP to both of us. I edged that one with 800Lp left.

2nd Match.
I don't want to talk about this match because it lasted for well over 45 min. with him and me stalling for long time. He finished me off with Rod. GG

3rd Match
All I remember was that he couldn't draw any monsters and I powned hime with NImbles and much defense to win the tourney.

After the tourney my friend got extremey pissed for coming in second and realizing I won. After a long time of silence he wanted to face me in a 2/3 match which I guess I did. I beat him in both easier then I had faced him in the 2nd round. I guess he really was pissed. After that he still wanted to face me but I said no cause it was getting late plus I have a 10-hour school day and I needed all the rest I can get.
