Kozmo Dark Eclipser
- #BOSH-EN085

Cannot be targeted by an opponent's card effects. During either player's turn, when a Trap Card is activated: You can banish 1 "Kozmo" monster from your Graveyard; negate the activation, and if you do, destroy that card. If this card is destroyed by battle or card effect and sent to the Graveyard: You can banish this card from your Graveyard; add 1 Level 8 or lower "Kozmo" monster from your Deck to your hand.

Trap cards right now are less strong than they used to be. The four best Trap Cards in the game (Solemn Warning & Striking x3) are Counter Traps, which monster effects like Eclipser cannot negate. Decks which run the Trap Hole cards and/or Rafflesia will have a tough time getting around it though, making it a worthy card to have in a Kozmo deck for that reason. Eclipser would also be really useful against rogue and anti-meta decks. And if trap cards ever have another renaissance, Eclipser will be even better. There are a lot of positives with this card. Really strong ATK. Relatively hard to get rid of because it can't be targeted by effects. And when it's destroyed in battle, you can bring out another Kozmo. This one is a LV9, so you can go from Eclipser straight into Dark Destroyer, destroy a monster, go into Forerunner, gain some LP, go into Sliprider, destroy a Spell/Trap and go into a lower level Kozmo. The only weakness this card has is if the opponent is siding a copy of the counter trap Atomic Blumpkin, which would send this card (and all of the Kozmos in your deck to the graveyard). I would only run 1 copy of Dark Eclipser but I would definitely run it. Keep in mind that this card is searchable (Farmgirl), recoverable (Kozmotown) and reviveable (Strawman, Soar Trooper, COTH, Oasis, EFTDD). I'd side an additional copy against trap-heavy decks. Not as good as Dark Destroyer, which has a faster effect, but still very good. I would also side an additional copy of Eclipse against trap-heavy decks too. All in all, a must have for Kozmo players.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Another boss monster for Kozmo players? The rich get richer with Kozmo Dark Eclipser.

Protection against targeting from your opponent alongside great ATK/DEF is a tremendous plus to have. Plenty of Type, Attribute, and archetype support. Multiple trap-negating power as long as you banish one of your Kozmo monsters protects all other monsters you have. You can get back any Kozmo you banish with this cards effect by using Kozmotown. If the opponent is able to destroy your Dark Eclipser, you can banish it and search out any other Kozmo monster in your deck and get it to your hand. Dark Eclipser replenishes a resource once destroyed, and, you can get it back with Kozmotown or another resource that targets a banished monster(s).

You'll be Special Summoning this card with your non-Machine Kozmo monsters. As long as you have access to them, getting Dark Eclipser to the field shouldn't be hard. Even without resources to remove to prevent traps from going off, it's an imposing monster like its counterpart Dark Destroyer. It's a boss in attack mode and a wall in defense mode. It is protected from targeting, can negate multiple times a turn, and evens out the situation once it gets destroyed. It's hard to find things wrong with this card.

Another big ship for Kozmo. Kozmo Dark Eclipser is a Level 9 Dark Machine-type monster with 3000 Atk and 2600 Def. Kozmo needs Kozmo to work, but these guys replenish themselves easily. Level 9 means you're not going to run as many of these in the Deck. Dark is Dark, I don't think Kozmo players bother to run Chaos even though they have all the Lights and Darks they could want. The rest are some pretty huge stats. I think Limiter Removal has fallen out of favor for Kozmos, but it still works here. 6000 potential attack should be enough to win the game. I like 2600 Def for those rare Book of Eclipse (not Moon because it targets).

The reason Book of Moon doesn't work is because this like the other big ships cannot be targeted by an opponent's card effects. The more active effect of Kozmo Dark Eclipser is during either player's turn to negate and destroy either player's Trap Card after it's activated. You can do that so long as you have Kozmo monsters in your Graveyard to banish as a cost. The big difference of this to Dark Destroyer is that when Eclipser is destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, you can banish it to add a lower Kozmo to your Hand. Dark Destroyer lets you Special Summon a lower Kozmo to the field to keep pushing for that attack. Kozmo Dark Eclipser still has a good effect and a good home in Kozmo's big ship yard, but it is eclipsed by Dark Destroyer.

This. THIS is the card I was waiting for when the Kozmo theme got started. This bad boy....... Why am I hearing Darth Vader's theme in my head? .......Anyway, this bad boy is the game breaker of the theme; at 3000-ATK, 2600-DEF, and is unable to be targeted by ANY card effects. Of course, if it happens to hit a Mirror Force or a similar Trap, it has a backup plan: banish one Kozmo Monster from the Graveyard and negate the Trap's effect. Also, if any other card effect kills it, like say Dark Hole for example, then you get to search your deck for another Kozmo Monster and a Special Summon it. The only downside to this- seriously, does no one else hear that music??- is that it can't search for a copy of itself, as it can only grab levels 8 and lower and this one just happens to be at level 9. But that's the only drawback! If you're going to play Kozmos at all, you would be foolish not to throw this in there.

I'm never going to get this theme out of my head now.

Score: 5/5 (Kozmo only)
