Atlantean Dragoons...Level 4, Water, Sea Serpent, 1800 attack (which I put in the great category) 0 defense (which I put in the not-so-great category).  While face-up on the Field, you can essentially weenie rush.  IF you're using A Legendary Ocean (which I wouldn't be unless I were playing Levia, as it's not necessary with Friday's card, that you should all ready see coming) your weenies might not be quite as weenied.  All face-up Level 3 or lower Sea Serpents you control can attack your opponent Directly.  That's good, not great, but not bad either.  Your potential game breaking effect is the second one...when this card is sent to the Graveyard to activate the effect of a Water Monster, add one Sea Serpent Monster from your Deck to your Hand.  (Of course, present company excluded, as seems to be par for the course.)    Not of any specific level, but ANY Sea Serpent.  Again, either Friday's card, or Levia.  Also again, I wouldn't be playing both, as playing them in the same Deck strikes me as counterproductive, but that's just me...more on that Friday.

Today’s card is the searcher for the Atlantean deck. Every good deck type needs a searcher to get to the cards it needs to set up its win conditions. Atlantean Dragoons only has to be sent to the graveyard to activate a water monsters effect. So you can use Abyss Soldier, Gungnir, Poseidra, Dragon Ice, and even Genex Undine to get Dragoons search.

There are two key cards you will want to search for with Atlantean Dragoons. The first is yesterday’s card, Deep Sea Diva as it is the monster that jump starts the monster serge. The second monster you would like to have in your hand is Moulinglacia the Elemental Lord from Abyss Rising. Of course the situation will dictate which card you search for depending on what is in your hand, graveyard, on the field, and on your opponent’s disposition, however, having options is what Atlantean Dragoons is all about.

There are other monsters you can search for if the situation does not call for the above two cards. Poseidra the Atlantean Dragon, Memail Abyssmegalo, Atlantean Heavy Infantry, and Atlantean Marksman are some of the monsters you may need in the right situation in an Atlantean/Mermail deck. Any way you slice it, Atlantean Dragoons needs to be played in threes.

We dive deeper into the depths of the Realm of the Sea Emperor structure deck to review Atlantean Dragoons. A level 4 WATER/Sea-Serpent type, with 1800 ATK and 0 DEF.

All face-up level 3 or lower Sea-Serpent-type monsters you control can attack your opponent directly. When this card is sent to the graveyard to activate a WATER monster's effect: Add 1 Sea-Serpent type monster from your deck to your hand except Atlantean Dragoons.

This card teamed with Call of the Atlanteans can wreck your opponent badly. I for one, would not want to look across the field and see 4 monsters and 3 of them can attack directly. Dragoon's 1800 ATK is pretty solid but a 0 DEF makes for an easy target in defense mode. Also, when using Dragoon's effect after it's used to activate a WATER monster's effect to get you a Sea-Serpent from your deck to your hand....any Sea-Serpent except another copy of Dragoons. This card is good for that big rush along with the 3 Sea-Serpents you get with Call of the Atlanteans, hey, it could even win you the game. If you are using this deck, 2-3 copies are pretty much a must.

Tomorrow: Did you call for 3 Atlanteans?
