Friday:
Angel O7

A two-tribute Skill Drain.  Not much to say here except I'd rather actually play Skill Drain.

If you're tributing two monsters for one summon, that effect damn well better be winning you the game that turn or setting you up to do something amazing (Dark Magician of Chaos comes to mind.)  I'm not wasting two Tributes on a 2500 ATK monster that has no built-in protection.

Failure of a Secret Rare slot.

We saved the best for last ladies and gents. Enter Angel 07 an appropriately level 7 monster with 2500 ATK and 1500 DEF. The effect is that it negates monster effects form activating when it is tribute summoned. WOW! Unlike the Imprisoning Mirrors and Skill Drain there is NO getting away from Angel 07. There is no cheating with Honest or recruiters. No monster effects, EVER.

You will notice of course that his effect requires him to be tribute summoned for his effect, so where on earth are you going to be able to summon him? Well the answer is not on earth. Valhalla, Hall of the Fallen allows you to Special Summon a monster Fairy from your hand if you have no monsters. But that still doesn't help Angel 07.

The key is in another secret rare from STON, Gellenduo. Most people just see his effect of not being destroyed in battle. But there is another line of text that says that it counts as double tribute for a LIGHT Fairy. The light came on didn't it? You Special Summon Gellenduo with Valhalla and then sacrifice it for Angel 07, activating it's effect and negating your opponent's deck.

It falls to the usual suspects of removal and gain control of and then tribute, but what monster isn't? It's 2500 ATK is enough to take out most monsters, and your opponent will almost be powerless to stop you. Gladiator Beasts, Lightsworn and DARK decks all need their monsters to pretty much do anything, and with over half of their deck negated, if they don't draw an out, they will be smashed to pieces.

The Card

This card is very simple. You tribute two monsters to stop all effect monsters.

What I'm not sure about is effects on the field or RFG, Hand, and Grave.

For example D.d. Survivor for RFG

D.d. Crow for Hand

Sangan For Grave

D.d. warrior Lady for damage step.

Gladiator Beast Gyzarus

From what i seen on websites is that it negates everything, but I have not found the current ruling yet. I would usually think that it wouldn't effect the damage step or cards like Cyber Dragon, Grand Master, Honest, and D.d. Crow. But, I could be wrong, but it's just a guess.

It may just be cards on the field such as Gyzarus. If it's just field, it isn't that great at all. Even if it stops everything, It would be hard to get out. That is it's main problem and no one will run this card due to how hard it is to keep monsters on the field. You would have to get rid of two monsters for one that is prone to anything and does not gain you any type of advantage like a monarch would. It also would get destroyed way to easily by spells and traps.

It's not worth running at all.

It's bad in advanced with all the top decks being able to win in 1-3 turns. You will never be able to get this guy out, and if you do you can lose major advantage without gaining any from it, because of how easy it is to be destroyed. You also can't use prime material and other effect monsters to protect it. If it also effects the hand, meaning honest can't be used. It means it doesn't allow one of the best cards for light decks to defend it.

Its horrible in Traditional.

Angel O7

Well here we are with Fridays card, one which when released received quite a bit of buzz. To be quite honest, I don't know why.

Angel O7 is one of those cards that you kinda wanna play, but when you actually build a deck around it you end up putting way too much emphasis on support of O7. In other words, you have to base so much around it to make it truly useful that it's not really worthwhile.

Now being Level 7 isn't terrible, though 8 would have been better (It is named O7 admittedly...). Having a measly 2500 ATK isn't exactly what I'd call fantastic though. For a two tribute I expect to look for at least 2800 ATK, as that will put it on par with Darklord Zerato and DAD. Anything below that will provide the possibility of being run over by either of those. 1500 DEF isn't exactly tremendous either, which means should your opponent decide to run Book of Moon, you're screwed.

As for the effect, negating monster effects is quite nice. Effectly preventing roughly half of your opponent's deck from doing anything is always good, but it's still vulnerable to traps and spells, which nowadays are the main way that players deal with problem monsters.

So what we come down to is a Level 7 lackluster monster that only gets it's effect for being Tribute summoned. Monarch's and LaDD can get away with such things, but unfortunately Angel O7 just isn't enough of a field presence to make it worth the two tributes.

Traditional: 1.5/5 There are better Light monsters out there.
 Advanced: 1.5/5 I'm just not a fan.

Great effect!  2500 ATK is very low for a 2 tribute monster.  But, the only monster that will beat this one in battle are going to be special summons.  With enough protection this card could create another type of soft lockdown on the field.  The list of monsters this shuts down is too long to list.

Dark Paladin

Friday

Angel 07 was reviewed...two months ago?

Here is my review from then, tweaked just a little, as my thoughts are the same.

Angel 07 is our card today, a card that tries SO hard to be good, and, well, anyway...Angel 07 is appropriately Level 7, and a Fairy of the Light attribute with 2500 atk and 1500 def.  There's our first problem...a Level 7 monster with 2500 atk and 1500 def...both low.

(Note:  I do like and play the card Dark Magician.  I'm not being biased or hypocritical, the same is true for him.)

Anyway, the effect is simply.  Effect monsters cannot activate their effects.  That's great, monster effect shutdown in a single card.

However, while 2500 atk is low, it IS enough to take out the 2400 attack terrors, but falls to DAD, DMoC, JD, and so on.

Besides, this is too much trouble simply for her to be removed or destroyed by a Magic or Trap card.  Really, it's not a bad card...necessarily.  It's just not environmentally friendly, thanks to Gadgets, Monarchs, Perfect Circle, DAD/DMoC removal, return, OTK/FTK, Diamond Dude Turbo, etc...
