Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh Card of the Day

Black Pendant

Card Number - MRL-003

Ratings are based on a 1 to 5 scale
1 being the worst.  3 ... average.
5 is the highest rating

Date Reviewed - 11.02.02

Friday - Black Pendant

Copy and paste the first two sentences from yesterday's review (not the "Who didn't see this coming?" stuff, the first two from the actual review), and insert Burner where Zombie is, and you have this card.  A monster equipped with this does 1000 LP damage when launched by Cannon Soldier.  Not bad.  It also makes your weenie monsters slightly more powerful so they can get another 500 LP direct damage from an attack before being launched to the Graveyard.  Not bad at all.

Score: 2.5 (it has possibilities, but the LP just doesn't add up that much)
Yonex Black Pendant -- Friday

Introduction: Woah I get to keep on pumping this monser up, bwhahahahh!

Equipment Magic
A monster equipped with this card increases it's ATK by 500 points. When
this card is sent from the field to the graveyard, inflict 500 points of
Direct Damage to your opponent's Life Points.

Why should you use it?
*Power up
*Does direct Life Point damage

Why shouldn't you use it?
*Equipment Card

Reasons: Hoped everyone had a Happy Halloween. Not a bad card to hit off
the day after Halloween. This card is not that bad, but a card over shadows
it. This card is an additional 500 damage, which isn't that bad. The effect
may be why people choose this over, the inflicting 500 damage, when it is
sent fromt he field to the graveyard. So that means that it would basically
be a Axe of Despair, except divided it's effect into 2. Well with any card
comes a bad card. This is an equipment card, which always means, no monsters
equals bad card.

Rating: This card isn't half bad. Though more people would rather use Axe of
Despair, and i wouldn't see why not. This card has potential, and almost
tournament level. I strongly doubt that you would see this deck in most
decks, unless your using burn. Gets a 3.5 in my big fat rating book.

Conclusion: Black Pendant is tooo rare to be seen in most decks.

This card is pretty decent when it comes to Equip cards that can boost your Monsters. I'm still debating about which card is better between this card and the Equip cards that increase the Monster's ATK points by 700. The only reason I'm not sure about it is because you attach this card to a Monster with and ATK of 1800 and he turns into a Monster with a nice ATK of 2300 which is not bad but is not enough to take out a Summon Skull. While if you use one of the cards that give you a +700 ATK bonus you can take out a Summon Skull, your Monster is still destroyed but that's one Summon Skull you won't have to worry about anymore.

Then again this card will always deal at least 500 Life Points to your opponent and if it wasn't for the Summon Skull thing this card gives you about the same effect an equip card with a bonus of 700 ATK would. Guess it's just player preference but I'll take my +700 equipments over this card just for consistency.

Rating 3.9
SomeGuy Friday - Black Pendant

500 Direct Damage to your opponent's Life Points when it is discarded from play doesn't intrigue me at all. I'm happy with my Axe of Despair, I don't need to waste room in my deck for such an outdated card.

I guess it wouldn't be too bad in a deck based around Direct Damage. But, 500 Direct Damage isn't something to be very excited about. +500 ATK can be decent if used at the right time, but there are a few other Equipment Magic cards that can serve you better.

Rating: 2/5
