Deck Fix: Crushing Darkness - Master of Shadows

Hello, once again, Pojo. It's Master of Shadows here with yet another deck fix, so let's hop to it before the FBI and FCC shut me down:

Hey,

I have been playing Yugioh for quite a while, proof by Kaiba structure deck being my first deck. Since then, I have had a couple of deck types; exodia, FINAL, final countdown, but my most favorite deck is my Fiends. I played with a fiend deck once, and I was hooked on them.

But, there seems to be an inherent problem with my deck. It seems slow and can't manage to stay consistent in winning. I have worked on this deck for many months, but I can't seem to find the right combination of cards. I hope to go to a tournament on day, but for now my deck is just to play for fun.

I guess the best way to describe my strategy is a fiend beatdown. I try to get my little monsters out to hold the opponent down, then summon my big monsters for the takedown. Problem is, I don't get a lot of chances to even get my big monsters out, and my little monster one-at-a-time my opponents monsters for as long as they can.

Anyway, I come to you seeking help and guidance. Please help my deck out, because I just don't know what to do with it.

All suggestions are welcomed and appreciated. Please let me know of any cards you think I would need, and if I don't have them, I'll know what to look for. Thank you for your time and consideration.

A Fiend-based deck I see here before me that could use a bit of fixing which is why it's here. Let's fix this thing.

Cards to cut:

- 1 Raviel, Lord of Phantasms

- 1 Vampire's Curse

- 1 Dark Nephthys

- 1 Slate Warrior

- 1 Ancient Lamp

- 1 Kuriboh

- 2 Newdoria / Grave Squirmer

- 1 Tribute to the Doomed

- 1 Swords of Revealing Light

- 1 Soul Exchange

- 2 Sakuretsu Armor

- 1 Trap Hole

- 1 Cyber Shadow Gardna

- 1 Magic Cylinder

- 1 Dark Illusion

I cut 17 cards here. Most of the cards I cut aren't Fiends and don't work too well with the deck anyway. Kuriboh doesn't really help here, but it is a nice side deck option. Slate Warrior has better options, especially with what I wish to do. Raviel is just a bad card that's not even worth the trouble to summon. Newdoria and Grave Squirmer are both good cards, but you only need to use one of the two, not both. Personally, I'd use Newdoria because it actually has some attack power, but Grave Squirmer is a good choice. Side deck whichever you choose. Tribute to the Doomed has a much better alternative. Swords isn't really needed. Neither is Soul Exchange. Sakuretsu Armor and Trap Hole have much better options. Cyber Shadow Gardna is a good card, but with so much destruction running around, it's too easily foiled by the likes of all the big name decks. Magic Cylinder doesn't really belong in this deck (better suited for a Burn deck) and Dark Illusion has much better counterparts.

Cards to add:

+ 1 Dark Ruler Ha Des

+ 1 Caius the Shadow Monarch

+ 2 Giant Orc

+ 2 Phantom of Chaos

+ 2 Mystic Tomato

+ 1 Lightning Vortex

+ 1 D.D.R. - Different Dimension Reincarnation

+ 2 Deck Devastation Virus

+ 3 Solemn Judgment

+ 1 Bottomless Trap Hole

+ 1 Escape from the Dark Dimension

+ 1 Return from the Different Dimension

I added in 18, putting you at 41. The extra Dark Ruler is for more negation power and stuff. Caius for more removal. Giant Orc to replace Slate Warrior, and even though it switches itself into Defense mode, it's great when backed by Deck Devastation Virus and it's great removal bait for Dark Necrofear. Phantom of Chaos is to make use of those fallen monsters to do something with them. A temporary Dark Ruler Ha Des, make it Deck Devastation Virus bait after copying something with high enough attack. Mystic Tomato, even though it's not a Fiend, will search out a lot of your monsters like Sangan, Snipe Hunter, Newdoria / Grave Squirmer, Goblin King, and the aforementioned Phantom of Chaos. Lightning Vortex for added removal as well as Bottomless Trap Hole (the better option over Trap Hole and Sakuretsu Armor). Deck Devastation Virus because it fits in here just fine and is somewhat murderous against numerous decks like Crush Card Virus is. Deck Devastation is particularly murderous against Gladiator Beast decks. D.D.R., Escape from the Dark Dimension, and Return from the Different Dimension are all here because they work well with Dark Necrofear and also with Phantom of Chaos and occasionally with Caius should you choose to remove one of your monsters (maybe to set up for Escape from the Dark Dimension or Return from the Different Dimension). Solemn Judgment as the all-purpose negator.

Other cards that you could add:

Crush Card Virus - the other side of Deck Devastation Virus; if you have it, use it and use Grave Squirmer over Newdoria - it's the perfect way to make use of Phantom of Chaos after it's done its job

Dark World cards - Dark World works very nicely with Dark Necrofear, but you'd have to restructure the entire deck for it

Doom Shaman - does for Fiends what Il Blud does for Zombies

Dark Mimic LV1 / 3 - a spot of draw power; most would use Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive, but Dark Mimic LV1 is the superior choice here because it's a Fiend as opposed to a Machine. It also makes nice Crush Card bait. Dark Mimic LV3 gets its effect off of being destroyed in battle.

Allure of Darkness - draw two, remove one Dark monster; that shouldn't be a problem here. If you have it, use it.

Enemy Controller / Book of Moon - protection against various decks' key monsters (read: Gyzarus plays, Dark Armed Dragon, sometimes Judgment Dragon), useful for some tricks of your own

That's about all I have for this deck. Great. Now I want to build some other Return-based deck or a Monarch deck or something. Great. I smell another deck fix of one of my own decks coming. Send everything to darkdestructionv30@yahoo.com

Until next time....
