July 2007 - Building a virus control deck-RACECARbakword

Virus control decks revolve around two cards. crush card virus and deck devastation virus. i will not be using eradicator epidemic virus because it is too much of a hassle to bring out 2500+ monsters unless we use summoned skull, but we wont use it. since the viruses rely on dark monsters all of the monsters are dark except for pyramid turtle
The Viruses
-Deck Devastation Virus-Tribute 1 dark monster with 2000 or more attack. Check all monsters on your opponent's side of the field, your opponent's hand, and all cards they draw (until the end of your opponent's 3rd turn after this card's activation), and destroy all monsters with 1500 or less ATK. you can get this card in flaming eternity or dark revelations 3
-Crush Card Virus- Tribute 1 dark monster with 1000 or less attack. Check all monsters on your opponent's side of the field, your opponent's hand, and all cards they draw (until the end of your opponent's 3rd turn after this card's activation), and destroy all monsters with 1500 or more ATK. you can get this card only as a SJC promo as of right now. if you go to SJC, keep it.

The good thing about the cards is that not only do you get rid of pesky monsters, but you get to look at their hand and set monsters too. This will give you a idea of what they're doing

Monsters
The monsters are all dark except for pyramid turtle. first up: Lich Lord

Lich Lord King of the Underworld-if you tribute summon this card, tribute must be dark. If this card is tributed by a cards effect and sent to the graveyard it is returned to the owners hand.

-The attack and defense of this card is 2400/1200. dark and zombie. Searchable by pyramid turtle (talk about it later). You will most likely not tribute summon this card, but if you do it's ok because all of the monsters in this deck are dark except for pyramid turtle. His second effect is the one to take notes on. Deck Devastation Virus makes you tribute 1 dark monster with 2000 or more attack. hmmm Lich Lord's attack is 2400 and he is dark attribute. perfect. and when he is tributed for deck devastation he return to your hand.

Vampire Lord- Each time this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent, declare 1 card type (Monster, Spell or Trap). Your opponent Selects 1 card of that type from his/her deck and sends it to the graveyard. Also, when this card is destroyed and sent to the graveyard by your opponent's card effect, it is special summoned to the field during your next standby phase.

-this card has 2000 atk, 1500 def. 5 stars. and zombie. searchable by pyramid turtle (talk about it later). it gets rid of your opponents cards in his/her deck which can be a bad thing, but the whole point of virus decks are to destroy the opponents deck. the second effect makes him immune to mirror force, torrential, lightning vortex ect. ect. he can be tributed for deck devastation.

Plague Wolf-Once per turn, you can change this card's ATK to twice its original attack. If you do this, destroy this card during the end phase.

-attack 1000, def 1000.dark. zombie his effect makes him into a 2000 atk beatstick. this effect is very good in this deck because you are able to tribute this for crush card or you can tribute it for deck devastation. either one. also he is searchable by pyramid turtle (talk about it later) and Mystic tomato(talk about it later)

Prometheus, King of Shadows- When you Normal Summon this card, remove from play any number of dark monsters in your graveyard. This card gains 400 atk for each removed card, until the end of this turn.

-attack 1200. def 800. dark, fiend. searchable by mystic tomato (talk about it later). so what are you going to do when the field is cleared for three turns because you used deck devastation and crush card at the same time.... if you get prometheus out and if you have lets say 7 dark monsters in your graveyard. boom. boost him up by 2800. 2800+1200=4000. half of your opponents lifepoints. boom.

Sangan- When this card is sent from the field to the graveyard, select 1 monster with an atk of 1500 or less from your deck, show it to your opponent, and add it to your hand. Then shuffle your deck.

-read the effect. enough said. get prometheus, pyramid turtle, plague wolf mystic tomato. or you can tribute it for crush card

Mystic Tomato- When this card is sent to the graveyard as a result of battle, you can special summon 1 dark monster with an atk of 1500 or less in face up attack position from your deck. Then shuffle your deck.

-mystic tomato. gets you that prometheus, plague wolf or maybe even a sangan. it'll lick your face (look at its picture)

Pyramid Turtle-When this card is destroyed by battle and sent to the graveyard, you can special summon 1 zombie monster with 2000 or less def from your deck

-wow. get that lich lord or vampire lord out maybe that plague wolf. Scenario that'll most likely occur atleast once at a tourney. first turn play face down pyramid turtle. opponent draws. special summons cyber dragon. attacks. play lich lord. next turn. bye bye cyber dragon. waahahaha.

Cat of ill omen-Flip: select 1 trap card from your deck and place it on top of your deck. If "necrovalley" is active on the field, you can add the selected card to your hand instead.

-1st. were not going to use necrovalley so forget the second effect. need crush card or deck devastation because your opponent is swarming you. well heres the answer. also you can flip summon this card and tribute it for crush card. then get deck devastation and put your opponent into lockdown.

Spells
basically i put the staples in here. except for 1 card.

book of life -special summon 1 zombie monster from your graveyard in face up attack or defense position and remove 1 monster in your opponent's graveyard from play.

-if your opponent has 1 monster in their graveyard and you use this card not only do you get a lich lord or another zombie back, but removing from play their only monster will really tick them off. especially when they draw premature or call the next draw phase.

Traps
staples except for viruses which i already mentioned.
