Trading Card Game Tips from fans

Hi All!

Hope you've enjoyed the multitude of articles that I've been turning out for the past while
and hopefully you'll like this one as well.
Yes thank you to all those duelist out there who reminded me of the Trap searcher from
PGD, Cat of Ill Omen. There were A LOT of people who informed me of this so thanks to
you all (you know who you are)
Through a series of duels (yes I found a little shop to call my own, after not being able to
find one) I discovered that cards can only exist in one place or "Dimension" at a time. Yes
this may sound incredibly basic and n00bish, but if you delve further then you see that
certain cards are more useful in certain Dimensions than others. Enjoy.

There are 5 places or Dimensions that a Card can "exist" in a Duel.

-Deck
-Field
-Hand
-Graveyard
-Different Dimension (RFG Zone)

If a card is in your Deck it'll have to be in one of these 5 Dimensions. How to you get to it?
A Searcher? Draw Engine? These are sure-fire ways to get the card you need, but where
do you want it to go? Think about it. Where does a card NEED to be to acheive it's
optimum efficiency? Well good readers that depends on the card and the deck.

Example #1. Helpoemer
This card came out in PGD and was the cover card for that set but where is it most useful?

Helpoemer
Dark/Fiend/5 stars/ATK 2000/DEF 1400
When this card has been sent to the Graveyard as a result of battle, this card’s effect is
activated. As long as this card exists in the Graveyard, your opponent discards 1 card
randomly from his/her hand at the end of his/her Battle Phase. Neither player can Special
Summon this card from the Graveyard.

Not many ways of getting it into your hand, but in Traditional Play a Witch could search it
out for you. A Draw Engine such as Dekoichi or Morphing Jar appears to be the only way
of getting this card right now with the Witch still banned.
It needs to be on the Field at some point in order to get it's effect. It's ATK is subpar for a
LV5 and won't be able to stand up to much. Perfect. You could easily sacrifice this into an
opponents stronger monster and acheive the desired effect. Once in the Graveyard it
ensures that you opponent will not have full control over his/her hand and so would be
best suited in a control deck. It can't be Special Summoned from the GY and so it's given
an added layer of protection from being removed again. A Soul Release or Kycoo could
put a stop to this play by RFG. This card is a prime example of one that feels most at
home in the GY where it gets most benefits.

Got it yet?
Let's try another card.

Example #2. D. D. Scout Plane
D.D. Scout Plane
Dark/Machine/2 stars/ATK 800/DEF 1200
If this card is removed from play, Special Summon this card in face-up Attack Position on
your side of the field during the End Phase of this turn.

Ah. Now this card can exist in many areas as it links the Field, Graveyard and RFG
together beautifully. Primarily it should be on the Field or in the Graveyard to begin with.
and then...Enter Strike Ninja. The Ninja fits with Scout Plane card like a Pringle and would
really need a deck built around this structure to utilize it's potential. The Ninja can evade
hostile attacks by removing 2 Dark Monsters in the GY from play. 2 Scouters+Strike Ninja
= possible major swarmage. Now its not going to destroy your opponent with its meagre
800 ATK but it could be tributed for a Monarch or if there are 2 then a 2 tribute monster such
as Dark Magician of Chaos or the Sacred Phoenix. And where do they go after being
tributed? To the GY and when Strikey comes back the cycle can continue again. D. D.
Scout Plane has incredible potential but really needs a deck, such as Strike Ninja, built
around it to get the best out of its "dimension transcending" (gotta love made up terms)
abilities.

As you can see, each card has a different Dimension by which it functions best. A normal
beatstick like Gemini Elf wouldn't be much help outside of the Field Dimension as it does
not merit much recursion or an interesting effect involving another Dimension. A Light or
Dark (even normal Monsters) have additional use outside of their optimum Dimension as
they would act as "Chaos Food" a term that I hate to my core. A Dekoichi, being both Dark
and an effective Draw Engine means that once it has fufilled its job of drawing a card (or
more if you play your cards right, pun intented) then it can be RFG to summon Chaos
Sorcerer.

Cards that would have been best in the Hand Dimension such as Sinister Serpent have
long gone and the Dark World creatures have semi replaced it. By being in your Hand
they have a chance of being special summoned by you, through a card effect. Or your
opponent receives a nasty suprise when they attack with Don Zaloog and find themselves
2 Cards down with Goldd. Night Assailant or to be more precise, 2 Night Assailants,
creates a potential discard loop with one in the Graveyard to be recovered from the
discarded ones effect. Good cards to use with this are those with a lot of discard needs. IN
Traditional Sinister Serpent and T-Virus would be the main combination, but since their
ban other discard cards have become less favourable to the constant metagame law of
"Card Advantage."

Example #3. Cybernetic Magician

Cybernetic Magician
Light/Spellcaster/6/ATK 2400/DEF 1000
Discard 1 card from your hand. The ATK of 1 face-up monster on the field becomes 2000
until the End Phase of this turn.

Now this is a card with a lot of potential. It could increase your Monsters ATK and
decrease your opponent's Monsters ATK. Now, combo'd with Night Assailant and a field
of Scapegoat means its open season for attacks. In the right situation, with a Royal
Decree in play or a clear opponent's back field, It could be like a Raigeki or Lightning
Vortex on your opponents field. As they have the same ATK, a Scapegoat in this form
could effectively take down a Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon if the opponents played it!

So called Nomi Monsters have possibly the worse reputation the whole of the game (next
to Ritual Monsters of course) as they can only be Special Summoned by fulfilling certain
requirements and then once dead are long forgotten, banished to obscurity in the great
beyond. However, with the release of Monster Reincarnation in RDS, it is possible to
reuse a certain Nomi Monster, by returning them to the Hand Dimension.
Thanks for reading this long theory about Dueling Dimensions (a term coined by me I
think.)

My next articles should be coming soon, some should be a "Soul-Draining Bone Tower
Deck Destruction Deck" and my views on the next set and structure deck, Shadow of
Infinity and Fortress of the Guardian God respectivley. As well as what I think should be on
the next Ban/Limited List.

As per usual any comments, good or bad, are readily welcomed in the hope of someday
being able to write as a Feature Writer for Pojo (especially after WiCkEd's departure.
Think that was pretentious of me? Let me know!

Peace Out,
Ezekiel
