Trading Card Game Tips from fans

My first rant and a deck list - Cameron

Hello everyone, it's me again. A little pissed off at a many of the little things in this game, and it's built up for a while. No I'm not going to rant about originality or the Banned List, that's been covered. Here's what I'm gonna rant about:

First, Konami is screwing up all Fusion Monsters. I understand they want us to Fusion Summon them, but making them so that the "cannot be Special Summoned except by Fusion Summon" is really unnecessary, and limits the potential of the new Fusion Monsters. All of the Elemental Hero Fusions are this way, as if they weren't crappy enough! They can't be morphed or revived, what the hell did they make Re-Fusion for? XYZ-Dragon Cannon is a great monster if you can get all 3 parts out, and with Ultimate Offering being limited, and Frontline Base only good for Y and Z, it's still gonna be hard enough to get out. Sinister is banned and Night Assailant is limited, so why can't it be revived? It might see play then. VW can be revived, so can VWXYZ, and that thing's a lot more violent than XYZ! Konami did the VW and VWXYZ right, so why not go back and fix the first one? Either errata it, re-release it with the new card text, or make a card ruling for it. It's easy, do you want some variety in this game or not?! Fix the crappy themes and make them playable!

And get this... Vehicroid Connection Zone would have been the best 'Roid support card in the game, but they screwed it up with the new card text. It's basically a Power Bond for 'Roid monsters only. But instead of doubling the ATK, it gives them invulnerability to your opponent's monster destruction cards. The translation said that it "sends fusion material monsters for a Machine-Type Fusion Monster with 'roid in its card name..." However, the English one now says a "Vehicroid Fusion Monster", you'd think it would mean the same thing, it doesn't. Curtis Shultz rules that only a monster with "Vehicroid" in its card name is a Vehicroid. That means that Steam Gyroid, UFOroid Fighter, and Ambulance Rescueroid cannot benefit from this. The only monster this works with currently is Super Vehicroid Jumbo Drill. That friggin' sucks! First of all, you're damn right Steam Gyroid and all of the other 'roids are Vehicroids! That's why they call it the Vehicroid Deck!

So now Konami is gonna kill what would've been a playable deck type (because of this card along with Supercharge) because they screwed up a word! If anything, they should rule that all monsters with 'roid in their card names are Vehicroids, they have a special section for Archfiends on Upper Deck Entertainment. WHO THE HELL CARES THAT AXE OF DESPAIR AND SUMMONED SKULL COUNT AS ARCHFIENDS?! Steam Gyroid is a Vehicroid too! And Ambulance Rescueroid needs it...badly!

Not only that, but they screwed up some of the Cyber Dragon support too! Cyber Barrier Dragon and Laser Dragon suck, and they can't even be revived, that makes them totally unplayable. To hell with this "cannot be summoned except by..." crap! Bring back "can only". Barrier and Laser Dragon might be playable if they could be revived after being properly summoned first, but no, they could be too dangerous (yeah right!). Cyber Barrier Dragon got the worst of it, they made it so that another Attack Reflector Unit can't bring it back unless you return it from the Graveyard to your Deck, unlike Laser Dragon (which can be Special Summoned from the Graveyard with another Photon Generator Unit).

Also, defensive strategies aren't dangerous, that's why they need to be so good. That's why Spirit Reaper and Gravekeeper's Spy are the only defensive cards people use. Because they're good at defending, and if you don't want people using Cookie-Cutter cards like that, then make some GOOD theme supporting defensive cards. STARTING WITH CYBER BARRIER DRAGON!!! Remake it so that it can negate 1 attack per turn. Period. Not the first attack, so the opponent can attack with a weak monster (even with less than 800 ATK), then hit it with a bigger one, and because of that "first attack" text, two of them wouldn't even compound and block 2 attacks per turn. Cyber Barrier Dragon requires 2 investments to bring out, one of which being a much stronger monster (or a Prototype, but anyway), it sucks already, then you had to make it unrevivable, and make its effect crappy! FIX IT!

Finally, the only problem I have with the banned list is that Konami restricted the wrong card to limit Chimera OTKs. Future Fusion is a great Fusion Support card on its own, if it weren't for the Chimera, it wouldn't be that dangerous. But the combo needs another card (Overload Fusion) to work. One is all you need, if you had to run 3 the other 2 would become dead weight once the first is drawn. But Future Fusion can and should be allowed to be run in 3s. Neither of the cards are searchable, but Overload Fusion should have been restricted. That way, 3 Future Fusions could still be used to make other Fusions more playable (like Dark Paladin and Elemental Heroes), while still limiting the potential of the Chimeratech Overdragon OTK Deck. But as usual, Konami limited the wrong card (like with the Morph/TER problem, they made Fusion Decks more unplayable because of 1 card)!

Well, for those of you who have made it this far I thank you for listening to me. I will reward you with something which might be of interest to you. I know most of you hate Elemental Heroes, but they're not so bad, and they've got a new combo: Neos, Fake Hero, Neo Space, and a Neo Spacean makes a 3000 ATK Fusion with an interesting effect. Here's a decklist:

Don't underestimate it, with Chaos-Return and Chaos in general gone, more creative deck type are now possible. Miracle Fusion negates the advantage loss from the normal Elemental Hero Fusions, and the Neos Fusions don't need Polymerization to work (make sure you yell "Contact Fusion" when you Special Summon one). Lots of Spells, but a lot of it is deck thinning and searching so it balances out. Try it out, and if you like this deck or my rant, drop me a line.
