Subject: Blasko's Top 10 tricks and tips, and ways to get cheats and creeps to shut up

Helpful tricks, tips and other things, that I think can come in handy for anyone and everyone.
Some do not go along with the new banned list. Some are just silly. But it's all about fun.
I won't be talking about well used and known combos like change of heart and Magician of Faith, and getting the change of heart back. People know those.
And I am not talking about cheating, or giving kids a hard time, at all. Just that kids you know marks his cards.

10) Commons.
I can never tell someone to much, to use commons. I started with a Joey Deck, a Yugi Deck, and one pack of cards. As I started getting into the game more, I bought out all of the commons at a store. (You know 10 cents a common) I later went nuts and bought all the cards I needed. And again rebuilt my deck, when it was stolen. (When I got it back, it made me happy to have 10 GAFs and 4 Yatas, 3 Rings, 5 Orcs all where I went nuts on Ebay)
But starting with commons, I used some cards no one heard of, thought of or carded about. And I had to come up with tricks on my own. Even Rare cards like Des Koala. People are not ready for high defense common cards, and a cards with effects that just hit them out of the blue. A guy that came in 2nd in Regional's twice was a push over. I built a better deck, and I beat all of those people I used to lose to, but I never beat him again.

Think about Secret Barrel for no reason. Or forgive me, I cant think of the card, but it makes your opponent put all of his hand into the deck, and pull that many more back out.
It gets on their nerves. Stops them from planning, and just drives them nuts in the middle of a turn.

9) The sleeve is the thing.
I use Card sleeves. Some older kids and teens where conning kids out of cards. I showed up with Pink sleeves, talking about how my little sister just taught me how to play. People laughed. Asked if I would play for a card. I acted odd, said I would put $20 up in place of their card. Long story short, I won the kids card back for him. They took risks to be silly, thinking I was going to be a joke. Trust me. Walk in with a Duel Disk. Even I would laugh at you then.
Just find something, to throw people. I lied to the people I played, but I did it for a good reason. Without the cover story, you seem odd..a joke..and someone will call you a noob, before seeing that you know what your doing.

8) The dancing GAF.
I used to throw games to a couple of young kids, so they would not give up. So I picked up the habit of holding a card up for them to see, and "dancing" it across the table, so they could see my hand.
Not thinking, I did this in a normal game. I danced a GAF across the table, and hummed a little song. He was so thrown off, thinking I had something in store or him, he started playing all paranoid. So now, if I am losing and I think I have a chance to come back, I dance a GAF about and smile.

7) Two Pendants, a Hat, and One Thousand points of damage.
This takes Magical Hats. Let them attack. The two cards you get out are Dark Pendants.
Now you have three cards in front of you that last till the turn ends. If they miss your monster, you keep it. If they hit it, they wont see the 1000 points of damage that will hit them, as the pendants leave the field to the graveyard. And the Pendants come in handy on Spirit Reapers on their side of the field. Kill a monster and do some damage. While not a pro tip, it's fun if your being silly with friends.

6) Odd deck types.
Play something off the wall. Something so odd, no one will counter it. I have people someone with a Bio Mage (weak fairy) Try the all fairy deck. There are cards that have cool effects, that can be used, to toss someone for a loop. I win more often than I thought that deck would. I just under score that theme with something people will over look at first. When monsters stayed gone, that where out of play. Filling up with Soul Release, Bottomless Trap Holes, and other cards like that, and one none fairy. Fiber Jar. I ran them out of cards, and used a couple of Grave Keeper's Retribution and a Gravity Bind to burn them.

5) Bluffing is the key.
Ask questions, Silly Questions. Like "So what does cards "X" do again?" Or look at the kid that wont stop sitting tow inches from you, looking over your shoulder "If I get the last piece do I win? Or do I have to summon all five monsters?" Just do not show him your hand.
While I hate trash talk at the table, sometimes you need to through someone off. And the kid watching your hand, for his buddy, and trying to help him out..will open his mouth, and prove they have been cheating. Or that trash talker will start thinking about what he thinks you have.
Or count for Light and Dark monsters often. Just to do it.

4) Is that a Yata in your hand or are you happy to see me?
Almost like the bluff. Just flash this card. I know people who lock up, and try to combat it, thinking it will make it's way out. Even if you don't use the card, they will be so worried, that they will freeze up, or get ready for it. Extra points if you toss it in your deck right after showing it, so they know you have it. (Not in advanced of course)
Even if you won't use it, they know you can. It's like having a Nuke.

3) Leave something out.
Play the game. Find the most loud mouth creep, and walk right up to him. This only works if you can beat him. Sit down, smile. And play. Right as the game starts, say "Got her down to 41 cards, this should work a lot better"
After you get a good lead, look over and sigh at your deck box. Reach in, and pull out a card that is sleeved like your other cards and say "I forgot this" Now hold up the head of Exodia or some other key card in a combo or set. Hold up CED, after you checked for Lights and Darks. Something to show, your not playing at full power, and doing well.

2) Ring and a Barrel of fun. Or Ameba for fun and profit.
Ring it, Barrel it. Sounds like fun. Now find ways to put Pendants on it. Add to that damage.
Creature swap that Ameba, to get it's effect. Find something to do mass damage at once, and do it. It works with everyone. I just like saying it. I miss seeing this combo.

1) Odd card out.
If you think someone is cheating by marking their cards.
When you cut their deck. Run your fingers over the edges. Then cut with half the cards facing the other way.
I see people with black sleeves, clip just a little gash in the end of a sleeve, so they can "feel" for the right card. Shuffle their cards if you need to. If they win using a card, that they needed at the right time, and do that often, with the dame card, as to see their deck, and look that card over.
I've found people that do this a few times. I've even changed their card sleeves when they were not looking. "Different cards, changed out. Or put a new sleeve on it.)
It became a blast to see them say "If I top deck Yata I win" and pull out the wrong card and toss it down without looking, thinking they had their Yata in the marked sleeve.
But make sure if you find a marked card, to tell the judge, and the other players before they can get rid of the evidence. A clean game is a good game.
