Hello Pojo Fans,

P.U.N.K. JAM Dragon Drive wraps up the week with a Synchro that is part of an archetype that is being splashed into decks currently in the meta.

Psychic Tuner and some generic monsters to make Dragon Drive, you will need to be running the P.U.N.K. package to summon this, or be using an old school choice like Krebons. RoTA or Foolish Burial for a Level 3 Psychic, but you have to have to Synchro Summon it or Special Summon it via a P.U.N.K. monster’s effect. A one-time Foolish or RoTA is good, especially for a 2700ATK monster. You are likely adding it to your hand if you are merely teching this and the other Psychic monsters into a deck, but if you are running a dedicated deck for the archetype you have more options. This can also be used as a way to search out one of your hand traps like Ghost Ogre or Ash Blossom, as they fit the bill for Level 3 Psychic monsters. Not saying you’ll use the hand trap to summon this, however that is an option none-the-less.

Free Special Summon of Dragon Drive from the grave is a great second effect, and would activate the RoTA ability upon the summon. The Special Summon is only available though if the opponent tries to play while you use a P.U.N.K. card, so you’ll need to be running a few P.U.N.K. cards or monsters for that to be an option. As the P.U.N.K. Main Deck monsters are mostly Level 3 that have effects that only cost 600LP you’ll be playing a few, especially if trying to summon another monster with them like Omega or Amazing Dragon.

The P.U.N.K. monsters are finding their ways into Main Decks because of their ability to Special Summon and extend plays, and with the ability to search one of two hand trap that every player runs, Dragon Drive is an attractive option for the Extra Deck if you can make it without losing advantage. In its own strategy it has far more utility with summoning, searching, and extending plays, namely being used to Synchro climb into Amazing Dragon. Utility is utility though and it’s good to see these monsters get some play.

The week ends off with a new P.U.N.K. Synchro to go with the fact they got a Level 5 in the last set to use as a non-Tuner with your Level 3 Tuners: P.U.N.K. JAM Dragon Drive.

Dragon Drive is a Level 8 EARTH Psychic Synchro with 2700 ATK and 2400 DEF. Good stats on a Level 8, EARTH is a nice Attribute, and Psychic has some good support. Requirements to Synchro Summon are any Psychic Tuner and any non-Tuner(s), so your P.U.N.K. Tuners can help Synchro Summon this alongside any other monster, preferably Deer Note. First effect triggers upon being Special Summoned by the effect of a P.U.N.K. card, or Synchro Summoned, letting you pay 600 LP to add to your hand or send to the graveyard any Level 3 Psychic monster, which is great in how generic it is and the LP cost is very minimal. If you don’t need another P.U.N.K. Tuner, you always got Ghost Ogre for a searchable hand trap, which is always good. Second effect triggers in the graveyard if the opponent activates a card or effect in response to your P.U.N.K. card’s effect, letting you revive this from the graveyard, which won’t be that hard to pull off when you need it and it also triggers its first effect. Hard once per turn on each effect, which is extremely standard. Dragon Drive overall is a good Level 8 Synchro for P.U.N.K. to access. They might go to Chaos Ruler first and foremost, but this usually can come up and is worth having.

Art: 5/5 You got to look closely to process everything going on, but it’s very nice and colorful. Honestly, a description that describes most of the P.U.N.K. artwork.

Ending the week on a P.U.N.K. theme, here’s Jam Dragon Drive.  A Level 8, Earth/Psychic Synchro, with a nice 2700 atk (and 2400 def) needing a Psychic Tuner and 1+ non-Tuners for a Synchro Summon.  First Effect is dependent on being Synchro Summoned or brought out via a Theme Effect which is essentially a take on Emergency Teleport.  Netting you a Level 3 Psychic from your Deck (at the cost of 600 Lifepoints) to your Hand or your Grave.  So you’re adding it to your Hand for likely next Turn, OR to your Grave, again, likely for immediate use, so it’s useful on both ends.  Special Summon from the Grave simply by your opponent responding to an Effect of your Theme card is incredible.  On Field protection is always good, but easy revival is just as good, if not better.  Each Effect here is once per Turn.  Solid attack body, useful combo Effect, and ease of revival make this card a winner.

Art:  5/5  Easily the most gorgeous card this week.  Look at the Monster and all the color used in the background.  It’s trippy (in a good way).

Rounding off the miscellaneous Power of the Elements support is P.U.N.K. JAM Dragon Drive, a level 8 EARTH Psychic Synchro monster for the P.U.N.K. archetype (which makes sense, considering P.U.N.K. Deer Note is an awkward level for Amazing Dragon). It does need a Psychic Tuner, but the other materials can be any non-Tuners, so you can easily make it with the Assault engine and, of course, in P.U.N.K. decks proper through Deer Note and any of the level 3 Tuners. 2700 attack and 2400 defense are just a tiny bit low for a level 8 Synchro, but they’re good enough stats for general use.

Both of Dragon Drive’s effects are a hard once per turn, so there’s no real use to summoning multiple. Dragon Drive’s first effect triggers when Synchro Summoned or Special Summoned by the effect of a P.U.N.K. card, letting you pay 600 Life Points to either search a level 3 Psychic monster or send it to the Graveyard. Naturally, you can fetch any of the level 3 P.U.N.K.s for follow up or as a combo extender, though if you want a more aggressive board, you can search Ghost Ogre & Snow Rabbit (why is it Psychic again?) for free disruption. Dragon Drive’s second effect is a little more niche; if your opponent responds to the effect of one of your P.U.N.K. cards, you can Special Summon Dragon Drive from the Graveyard, which will trigger the first effect too. While your opponent can play around it fairly easily, there will be times where they can’t help it, letting you put a body on the board and fetch follow up. It’s better to consider it a bonus on the fantastic first effect, even if it doesn’t come up too often in high-level play. Dragon Drive’s main weakness was the fact that it competed with Chaos Ruler, the Chaotic Magical Dragon for the best level 8 to make in P.U.N.K. decks. Now that Chaos Ruler has been forbidden, Dragon Drive is pretty much the best level 8 Synchro to make in P.U.N.K. decks, as it should be!

Art: 4.5/5 Confused? Ze Amin and Deer Note are apparently different people! Supposedly, the card looks great in-person, even as a super rare.
