Hello Pojo Fans,

Full Armored Dark Knight Lancer ends our week of Xyz monsters and equipping them to other Xyz monsters.

Three Level 7 monsters is a high price to pay, but as we know there is likely an easier way to summon this, and it involves using a Rank 5 or 6 Xyz Monster. The Quick-Play Xyz Align or Normal Spell Xyz Entrust will make any of your monsters the Levels you need to make a Rank 5 or 6 for this summon, or you can use Xyz Armor Fortress for the summon. 300ATK boost for each material and Equip attached could put Dark Knight Lancer over the top, but at 2800ATK to begin with you are pretty well-off for ATK power.

Cost-free recycle from the grave of any Xyz card gives you constant access to Armored Xyz and its attaching power, or something like Xyz Burst to wipe out all your opponent’s face-down cards (Book of Eclipse combo). If you equip something to Dark Knight Lancer, like say, through Armored Xyz or Full-Armor Xyz, Dark Knight Lancer imitates Thousand-Eyes Restrict and sucks up a monster and makes it an Xyz Material, gaining more 300ATK. This is likely where you’ll get your ATK boost from. Armored Xyz would end up dropping its ATK because whatever you attach is likely lower than Dark Knight Lancer’s original ATK. Full-Armored Xyz will boost it up to something past 5000ATK (attaching Fortress with its 2500ATK) while you’d use Armored Xyz to attach just to get another battle in. Be sure to equip with Full-Armored Xyz after Armored Xyz so you can override the ATK drop that would happen to Dark Knight Lancer through Armored Xyz.

While it doesn’t inherit protection abilities or destruction powers, Dark Knight Lancer can take care of a problem without having to attack. It recycles your most-used cards for free each turn, and has pretty good stats to deal with anything that comes your way. Pretty good for a Rank 7 that would originate from a Rank 3.

Make way for the true boss of Armored– Full Armored Black Ray Lancer combines with Silent Honor DARK to form Full Armored Dark Knight Lancer, a new boss for Armored and Sharks as well. A Rank 7 WATER Aqua Xyz monster, Lancer takes any 3 level 7 monsters, which is practically impossible in Shark decks, but for obvious reasons, you won’t be making this with 3 level 7 monsters, and it barely does anything if you hard make it anyway. Continuing the Armored stat curse, Lancer has a solid 2800 attack yet a disappointing 1600 defense. What’s with these guys and terrible defense stats?

In true Armored fashion, you can Xyz Summon Lancer off of any Rank 5 or 6 Xyz monster once per turn. This applies to Quick Xyz effects as well, so you can (and should) rank up an Xyz Armor Fortress using a Full-Armored Xyz you searched (if only to get that Trap into the Graveyard, since its Graveyard effect is very important for disruption). Lancer gains 300 attack for each of its materials and Equip cards, which doesn’t actually add up to all that much, but as we’ll see, that’s peanuts compared to how much it can actually get. Lancer has two other soft once per turn effects, the first letting you recycle any Xyz (that’s card name, not Xyz monsters) card in your Graveyard back to the hand. Incidentally, this effect isn’t too useful on your first turn, since you actually want to keep your Armored Xyz cards in the Graveyard to Equip to Lancer and Full-Armored Xyz is getting banished anyway, but it’s nice for recycling the Armored Xyz Spell. Lancer’s final effect triggers if a card is Equipped to any of your monsters (IE through Full-Armored Xyz), letting you attach any of your opponent’s monsters to Lancer as an Xyz material. This is obviously some very good disruption and removal, as it neither targets nor destroys, and as a little bonus, Lancer gets 300 attack off of it! Speaking of attack, it’s not uncommon for Lancer to reach over 6000 attack by equipping it with Fortress or Torpedo, and it can be untargetable as well. Combined with the other bonus effects doubling battle damage and negating effects, Lancer is also a very strong OTK machine. Until we get Armored Xyz, the engine won’t reach its full potential in Rank 4 decks due to Fortress needing 2 search targets to deplete its Xyz materials, but for now, it’s an incredibly potent engine boss for any Rank 3 deck (and Rank 4 decks that can detach 2 Xyz materials).

+Easy to summon
+Can reach an obscene attack stat and OTK like crazy
-Lacks disruption by itself

The week ends off with the payoff to running the Xyz Armor cards: Full Armored Dark Knight Lancer.

FADKL is a Rank 7 WATER Aqua Xyz with 2800 ATK and 1500 DEF. A good ATK stat for a Rank 7, plus the solid combo of WATER and Aqua. Materials are any 3 Level 7 monsters, but you’ll more likely summon this using a Rank 5 or 6 Xyz Monster you control with its effect. It gains 300 ATK for each material and Equip Card it has, so it should easily be over 3100 ATK. Once per turn, you can target an Xyz card in your graveyard and add it to your hand, maybe getting back Armored Xyz to get another equip on this for more of a boost and its other effect where once per turn, if an Equip Card is equipped to a monster you control, you can attach an opponent’s monster to this as material, which is good on the opponent’s turn as well thanks to Full-Armored Xyz’s graveyard effect. Dark Knight Lancer can get fairly strong with the equips and materials it has, plus it helps out the opponent’s monsters the more you can equip things to your monsters in general. It’s the main purpose of playing the Xyz Armor monsters and Full-Armored Xyz, and it’s a worthwhile investment to run said cards.

Art: 5/5 This time we got Silent Honor DARK getting the armor and looking cooler actually.
