Hello Pojo Fans,

Boot Sector Launch is a Throwback Thursday that is pretty young to be one.

The Rokket Field Spell that can help recover like almost no card in the game. The ATK/DEF boost it gives doesn’t matter much, 300 is a little bit more of damage, but usually doesn’t matter. Dropping 2 Rokket monsters with different names from your hand is a great swarm option, setting up an Extra Deck summon, but doesn’t compare to the third option you can use. Special Summoning up to the difference in monsters on the field from the grave can be a lifesaver. Your opponent can clear your field and swarm you, only to face a potential equal number of monsters back on the field again the next turn. It doesn’t matter that they are in defense position, this deck can use the Extra Deck in almost any fashion with ease. Not being locked into Rokket monsters when using any of these effects gives you any option in your Extra Deck to make a comeback or further your field presence. Any of the Rokket monster’s effects can be activated the turn they are Special Summoned via this effect, opening up a Link Summon to activate the effect(s) of several Rokket monsters.

This card is a cornerstone to the deck. You get it and you have a way to keep your Rokket monsters coming back or dropping them easily on the field.

Throwback Thursday for an archetype that isn’t that old leads us to one of their earlier pieces of support it got, their Field Spell, Boot Sector Launch.

BSL is a Field Spell that first off boosts your Rokket monsters by 300 ATK and DEF. Ok, cute boost, but that isn’t the reason we are playing Field Spells anymore. This card has two effects and you can only activate 1 once per turn and it’s a hard once per turn. The first option is to Special Summon up to 2 Rokkets with different names from your hand in Defense Position. Ok, easy way to get some monsters on board to do your plays or maybe have targets for your Borrel Links so you can trigger their effects. I appreciate the “up to” part as well if you only have 1 Rokket you have to summon, then this gets it on board. The second option is if your opponent controls more monsters than you do, you can Special Summon from the graveyard Rokket monsters with different names up to the monster deficit. Again, I like the “up to” part so you don’t have to have enough to match the amount of monsters your opponent has. This will help when you’ve already loaded your graveyard with Rokkets and you don’t have as many monsters as the opponent, so most likely a late game effect, which is fair considering the other effect is a good early game effect. Boot Sector Launch is a pretty good Field Spell that helps get your Rokkets on the field, and it’ll help with Striker Dragon since that card can search for this since every Field Spell gets its own searcher nowadays after the limitation of Terraforming and Metaverse. BSL is worth playing in your Rokket decks, less copies necessary with Striker Dragon searching for it.

This theme is relatively new, and Throwback Thursday gives us a card we reviewed about 18 months ago (link following):  https://www.pojo.com/boot-sector-launch-yu-gi-oh-card-of-the-day/ but here we are with Boot Sector Launch.

Boot Sector Launch is a Field Magic card that immediately gives all Rokket Monsters 300 attack and defense.  (Not just yours, but all).  Two more effects are attached here of which you can activate one of, once per turn.

*Special Summon two theme Monsters with different names from your Hand in defense position.  I don’t generally like my Special Summons to be defense positioned, but this sets up Extra Deck plays, or even just for your Rokkets to combo off each other, so however and whatever you’re doing with this should generate you good advantage and Field presence.

*You can Special Summon a number of Rokkets from your Graveyard, with different names, in defense position, as long as your opponent controls more Monsters than you, equal to the number of difference in controlled Monsters.  This is good, almost like it rewards you for being in a hole or if your opponent over extended.  Graveyard dependent there, but still good.

Rating:  4/5

Art:  3.5/5  Definitely the barrel of a gun of some sort…a little big, but you can get the feel Rokkets (artillery whatever) is being launched from this.
