Around the World in 80 Days: Walkabout Mini Golf Review
Teeing Off on an Awesome Adventure

Walkabout Mini Golf: Around the World in 80 Days was released on January 20, 2024.  We purchased a copy, played both the easy and hard courses, and have a quick review for you.  This DLC course add-on costs $3.99 U.S.

Walkabout Mini Golf is a Virtual Reality Golf Game made by Mighty Coconut Games.  It is available on Meta Quest, Steam VR, and PSVR2.  My review is based on gameplay on a Quest 2 headset.

The course is perched atop the Eiffel Tower, offering incredible views of the City

Walkabout Mini Golf: Around the World in 80 Days takes the charm of the original VR mini-golf hit and whisks you away on a globe-trotting adventure inspired by Jules Verne’s classic tale. Here’s a breakdown of its ups and downs:

New DLC Course: Around the World in 80 Days – Walkabout Mini Golf

Highlights:

  • Stunning Parisian Panoramas: The course is perched atop the Eiffel Tower, offering incredible views of the City of Lights. Each hole is crafted with rich detail and immersive atmosphere.
  • Clever Themed Mechanics: New gameplay elements like rolling people-mover carpets and moving gondolas add fresh challenges and keep things exciting. Wind mechanics from the “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” course make a welcome return.
  • Engaging Foxhunt Mystery: Scattered clues and hidden secrets tie into the Around the World story, encouraging exploration and rewarding discovery. Finding collectibles unlocks a new putter and more golf balls.
  • Charming Soundtrack: The score perfectly complements the Parisian setting, with whimsical accordions and piano melodies setting the mood for a delightful virtual escape.
If you only putt your tee shot half the way, your next shot will be from a gangplank about 980 ft. above Paris. Weeee!!!

Things to Consider:

  • Fear of heights?  While the Eiffel Tower setting is visually stunning, the virtual reality of being tremendously high in the sky might get to some players.

Overall:

Around the World in 80 Days is a delightful addition to the Walkabout Mini Golf universe. It delivers a charming and visually stunning Parisian vacation with fresh gameplay elements and a fun mystery to unravel. If you’re seeking a charming and immersive VR mini-golf experience, Around the World is definitely worth putting on your bucket list.

The 18th hole in hard mode. Good luck launching your shot onto that massive balloon across the sky!

Verdict: Recommended, especially for fans of Walkabout Mini Golf and those seeking a beautiful and engaging VR experience.

Pojo Notes: Me and my Son-in-Law were able to find all 18 golf balls while playing together without any online assistance.  Check cups, barrels, under balloons, under platforms, behind beams, trolley tracks, spiral stairscases, and benches.  😉

This add-on course only costs $3.99 U.S.  That’s about half the cost of a nice draft IPA beer, and will last a lot longer.  Well worth it in my opinion.
