Dark Paladin

Monday

Opening the week, we begin to look at some new cards from the next set Light of Destruction.  Will the powerful new Light Attribute monsters be able to take down things like Dark Armed Dragon?  To properly discuss, I'll have to do something bold, daring, and incredible...something I haven't done in nearly 3 months...write an article...(look for that later in the week.)

Anyway, we look at a Secret Rare/Ghost Rare today, Honest.  Honest is a Level 4 Fariy monster with a mere 1100 attack, yet a respectably impressive 1900 defense.  As for the effect, during either player's Damage Step, if a Light monster you control battles, you can send Honest from your Hand to your Graveyard.

Afterward, your selected Light monster gains an attack strength equal to the attack strength of the monster battling it.  It's nice Tech for Light decks, and Fairies...Counter Fairies, and all the other goodies we will be upcomingly reviewing from the new set.

With another week of CotDs, comes new cards to review. I have no idea how this is supposed to be released, so my ratings might be a little off. But this card ROCKS! A sakuretsu armor in the hand? Absolutely! I don't really get the effect that returns it to your hand as you would almost never play it, but it makes it that much better because it can! this is an absolute must for EVERY light deck. So maybe, just maybe, the light can conquer darkness. And for a weird coincidence, I just saw 'The Seeker' last night, which is a lot better then the comercials make it look.

LODT-EN001 Honest

This week we start off with the cover card from the new set Light of Destruction, Honest. One of the better cards to come along in awhile in terms of card design, if features the nifty effect to give one of your Light Attrribute monsters a suprise pseudo Limiter Removal until the end of the Battle Phase. It can be very useful in decks such as Lightsworn, Batterman, and dedicated Light / Freed variants. However, I feel it would be most effective in a much slower format where monsters were destroyed in battle more often then they were swept off the field via Dark Armed / Darklord Zerato / Judgement Dragon. But if you were lucky enough to pull or trade for 3 of these this past weekend, give it a shot.

Monday:
Honest

This is what Riryoku should have been all along.

The fact that it only works with Lights is irrelevant; it's a Damage Step trick that's damn-near guaranteed to be a 1 for 1, your Honest for their monster you shouldn't have been able to beat in battle.  It's funny that Metagame just covered this; this card is going to be a neat little battle trick for the Light-type.

Being able to poke for 1100 and bounce it is nice too, though it does give away your strategy.  I'd rather just let it sit in my hand and drop it for its effect when the time is right.

3.75/5
