Friday:
Neo-Parshath, the Sky Paladin

I said it earlier in the week and I'll say it again -- I'm not a fan of ATK-boost effects. For the trouble you have to go through to get this guy out, he's hardly worth the difference in ATK based on your LP boost. It has an easier way to get out than tributing two monsters, and doesn't need Sanctuary to be out to have its 2300 ATK, but I'd probably rather just play Airknight along with other counter-fairies and counter-traps and protect him at 1900 instead of investing other cards to get him at 2300+.

...BOTH are lower than Monarchs though, which is something to keep in mind.

He does have one other use -- a decent 7-star monster to play in a Reasoning deck. This is one more card that you can vary your 5-6-7-8 star monster counts with to throw your opponent off and ensure they don't call Reasoning correctly.

Closing the week, we look at the new Nomi for Airknight Parshath, who is Neo Parshath, the Sky Paladin.

As good as Airknight is, I consider this card to be utter garbage. You tribute your Airknight for the same effect and 400 attack points?
Wow...a 2300 attack Level 7 Nomi...I think you can get by without this...

Yes, its attack and defense can go up based on the difference of your and your opponent's Lifepoints, but only if the Sanctuary in the Sky is on the Field...when was the last time that happened?

That's what I thought...

Ratings:

1.5/5 all around

Art: 5/5 Excellent picture

A good idea, just not well executed, maybe Sanctuary in the Sky will be a viable decktype someday...

You stay classy, Planet Earth :)

Neo-Parsath :
I find the image of Airknight Parsath in a long black coat and dark glasses rather entertaining.

Ignoring the first line, this card ain't half bad. OK, maybe not. Requiring a particular monster as a tribute, especially when that monster required a tribute, is not the way to put monsters into play. It might draw you a card when it does damage, but Airknight did that just fine thank you very much. The ATK boost isn't worth the investment of deck space and time.

Turkeyspit Neo-Parshath, the Sky Paladin.

Thank goodness this card isn't a NOMI! Whenever I see the words "Special Summon" appear in the first line of text on a Monster Card, I get that sinking feeling in my stomach. Thankfully though, R&D got this one right.

Essentially a suped-up version of Airknight Parshath, Neo-Parshath adds a new element to the Fairy/Sanctuary deck.

You can choose to Normal summon this two-tribute monster, or you can just tribute off your Aiknight Parshath to Special Summon this monster to the field, which preserves your Normal Summon for something else. (if you cann't figure out what to tribute your Gellenduo for, then here you go!)

He has mediocre stats for a two-tribute monster, but he retains the "Pierce + Draw" effect of his smaller cousin. Where he really shines though is with his second effect. Life Gain is strategy often seen with Fairy-type monsters, and if you add Neo-Parshath to the mix along with 'Sanctuary in the Sky', you have the potential of getting a huge beatstick to the field that can both pierce and generate +1's.

I don't know how competitive a decktype this will create, but it's long awaited support for people who enjoy playing Fairy decks.

------------------------------------

Traditional:
1/5 - Airknight does see play, but I doubt this will.

Advanced:
2/5 - Pretty much only good in 'Sanctuary in the Sky' decks, and decks that revolve around Field Spells don't tend to work all that well.

Card Art:
2/5 - Elemental Hero Avian's big brother.

NEO-PARSHATH, THE SKY PALADIN
Light/Fairy/7/2300/2000
You can Special Summon this card by Tributing 1 "Airknight Parshath". During battle between this attacking card and a Defense Position monster whose DEF is lower than the ATK of this card, inflict the difference as Battle Damage to your opponent. If this card inflicts Battle Damage to your opponent, draw 1 card. While "The Sanctuary in the Sky" is on the field and your Life Points are higher than your opponent's, this card gains ATK and DEF equal to the difference in Life Points.

So, a Lv 7 2300/2000. Just low enough so that it can’t take on a monarch without help or a Cyber Dragon if he’s in defense. He’s a light monster, so he can be great in light based decks. It can be tributed for normally, OR he can be special summoned by tributing an Airknight Parshath, which I know most of remember far to well from the Goat Control days. And, of course, his first effect is identical to his smaller brother. If you do life point damage with him, draw a card. Not bad. A great card to bring back with Premature Burial.

His second effect isn’t too bad. He gains attack while you have more life than your opponent if you have Sanctuary in play. So, if you manage to keep him on the field and keep pushing damage, you are going to have one big Paladin.

In short, if you run a Sanctuary deck with Airknights and Nova Summoner, then run this guy. Otherwise, I wouldn’t exactly suggest it.

Traditional: 3/5 (He’s light, and we got Graceful and Reborn here)
Advanced: 4.5/5 (Fairy Sanctuary deck only)
Art: 5/5 (This card looks sooooo sweet!)

So a redone Parshath. If only they had done a better job. Instead of just taking Parshath and reprinting it with a slightly higher attack, one that would allow it to actually see play, they decided to make a bulky 7 star. They attempt to remedy that by offering a special summon opportunity, but sacking an old school Parshath for it is the same as a double tribute…..

They continued the insult by giving it only 2300 ATK. If it’s a 7 star at least give it more ATK than the monarchs!!!! The final insult was the added effect. It now gets a stat boost if you have higher LP, but it’s stuck combined with Sanctuary in the Sky. This association with the Agents is unneeded, and it is useless to the card as that would probably never happen in an actual competitive game. At least they left it all of Parshath’s old effects.

In conclusion, it is a waste of the comeback of secret rares, but at least they didn’t make it a nomi.
