Windwitch – Ice Bell

Windwitch – Ice Bell is one truly amazing monster that should lead the entire game into the Link Summon evolution. By herself, she becomes Crystal Wing Synchro Dragon that cannot be destroyed by card effects. But if that wasn’t outstanding enough, her combo with Snow Bell and Glass Bell should be no problem after Link Summoning, since an indestructible Crystal Wing will be paralyzing enough to the opponent that you won’t need to summon other monsters from the extra deck.

For the few people reading this who don’t yet understand what the Windwitches can do, Ice Bell special summons herself and then special summons Glass Bell from the deck. Glass Bell searches for Snow Bell, which can summon itself immediately. Synchro summon into Clear Wing or Winter Bell and then synchro summon into Crystal Wing. This outrageous combo surpasses TopTak in sheer power and only lacks compared to the many options Speedroids have. What appears to be a downside is that Ice Bell’s effect seems to hinder Link Summoning, since link monsters don’t have levels and you can’t special summon extra deck monsters except for level 5 wind monsters. But as I said before, there’s a difference between no options and having an invincible Crystal Wing. You can go into that monster and wait to summon link monsters a different turn. And speaking of Speedroids, the Windwitch monsters have obvious harmony with them, and the two engines can easily meld together. In fact, Taketomborg in particular is enhanced greatly by their presence. We also can’t forget Invoked decks and Majespecters, each of which welcome the presence of a stable engine that offers additional plusses.

Windwitches are an addition to the game coming at the right time to maximize their effectiveness. Wind types have all the advantages right now because of Crystal Wing and the TopTak combo, which is ambiguously thrown into any deck you can think of. As an engine, Windwitches are simple and don’t take up much space. And while Ice Bell is definitely the key to the combination, is that any different than Terrortop? Currently, Zoodiacs rule the entire game but with their level of domination, we all know it won’t last. There’s no reason not to treat Ice Bell as anything but what she is: a first-class monster that can change any duel just by drawing her. Very few cards in the game can do that.
