Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh! Card of the Day
Daily Since 2002!

Destiny HERO - Decider
- #DESO-EN003

Level 6 or higher monsters your opponent controls cannot target this card for attacks. You can only use each of the following effects of "Destiny HERO - Decider" once per Duel. ● If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 "HERO" monster from your Graveyard to your hand during the End Phase of this turn. ● During either player's turn, when a card or effect is activated that would inflict damage to you, while this card is in your Graveyard: Return this card to your hand, and if you do, make that effect damage to you 0.

The LV6+ attacking restriction is alright, but not that great.  XYZ's, Level 5's and many LV4 beat sticks can still get over this card.  Both of its other effects are good, but rightfully, there is a once per duel limit.  Recovering a HERO from the graveyard can be useful, but usually only mid to late game.  Preventing effect damage is a nice bonus effect too, plus getting a free floater out of it.  Since there's a hard once per duel restriction, HERO decks should really only be using 1 if any.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Hope some people got the jab at the sitting president I made by choosing King of The Swamp on his first Monday in office. That aside, Destiny HERO- Decider is todays CoTD.

Protection against Level 6 or higher monsters is a good inherited effect, despite the Xyz-heavy meta these days. Monsters like Kaiju, as well as D/D/D use higher level monsters, as well as BEWD-based decks, so this card has an advantage. Search effect at the end of the turn whenever you summon Decider evens out his summon and will help you plan for the next turn. Not overpowering as it adds at your End Phase. A unique second effect to add back to the hand to cancel out effect damage during either players turn. If you run into a burn deck, or a monster like Gagaga Cowboy trying to finish you off, you can negate that damage and get back Decider to reuse next turn. While this effect likely won't be consistently used, it is useful to have, much like its Level 6 and above protection.

Another good monster for the Destiny HERO archetype.

Destiny Hero - Decider has some interesting and unique effects. The stats are fine being a Level 4 Dark Warrior-type monster with 1600 Atk and 1000 Def. He could have been a little stronger, but it's the third effect that makes him noteworthy. I'll start there because of its strange conditions. The third effects activates in the grave to prevent effect damage by returning Decider to the hand. The effect is once per duel and can be activated during either player's turn. It's just so strange to see an effect that returns resources in addition to being useful. The other effects aren't quite as good but still good.

Destiny Hero - Decider cannot be a target for attacks by Level 6 or higher monsters. XYZ Monsters can do whatever they want, but some protection is better than none. When he is Normal or Special Summoned, he can add any Hero monster from the grave to the hand during the End Phase, including another copy of himself. This effect is also once per Duel, and occurring during the End Phase isn't ideal. I don't believe he needs to stay on the field for the effect to resolve, so he can become Dark Law and then replenish resources during the End Phase. Lots of effects and decent Atk, and yet I don't like monster fish man. But that won't prevent a good score.
