Union Gate
- #SDKS-EN020

When this card is activated: You can add 1 LIGHT Machine-Type Union monster from your Deck to your hand. Once per turn, if a LIGHT Machine-Type Union monster(s) is Normal or Special Summoned to your field (except during the Damage Step): You can target 1 of those monsters; equip 1 appropriate LIGHT Machine-Type Union monster, with a different name, from your Deck to that monster, but the Union monster you equipped cannot be Special Summoned this turn. You can only activate 1 "Union Hangar" per turn.

Union Hangar

We start ABC week with a broken card plainly intended to launch the archtype into the stratosphere. Honestly this card is just lazy. “So how can we get people to buy these structure decks? Oh, I know. Let’s make a highly searchable field spell that gives a +2 for the turn and a plus every turn after.” It’s just absurd. Especially since Union Hangar in the hand is an instant 2/3 into Buster Dragon.

While Union Hangar was obviously meant for ABC and secondarily for UVWXYZ, there are a few other targets for this spell. While A, B and C protect against monster, spell and trap effects in that order, Heavy Mech Support Armor can protect from any targeting effects. Torque Tune Gear turns the monster it is equipped to into a tuner, which I find really interesting. There’s also a few Vylons that can be targeted, but that’s about it, so there’s not a lot of potential outside of ABC decks. I don’t know what else to say about this very simple card. You search, and then you use the field spell as long as you can to balance multiple copies of A, B, and C in order to have quick access to Buster Dragon over and over. This is the key card and, outside of Cyber Dragon Infinity, Union Hangar will be the card to be restricted when ABC is finally hit and its reign is over.

Hello Pojo Fans,

Kaiba Union week at CoTD and we're getting it started with a Union Field Spell: Union Hanger.

Free search off the activation is good considering most of the Union LIGHT Machine monsters aren't searchable without something like Shining Angel. More deck thinning occurs when you summon in any fashion a LIGHT Union Machine. Pull a different Union LIGHT Machine and equip one of the other LIGHT Machine Union monsters you summoned that turn. Set up your field with multiple Union monsters through Pendulum Summoning or Frontline Base, then use this effect and get one more and equip. This card will make getting to your Fusion Union monsters much quicker, and that is what it's all about for Union monsters: speed. There are many monsters that can get searched out by this card for the archetype, and this card is what they needed to help speed up the deck and make it legit.

Advanced-2/5- Searching once per turn would make it better

A new structure deck means new cards.  Looking at cards from the Kaiba Deck this week, we open with Union Hangar.  Increase the number of playable Field Magic cards by one.  As far as Field cards go, this one is awesome for a theme.  Union Monsters, while an interesting idea, outside of XYZ, weren't anything that ever really took off.  The VW pair were eventually added and we now have ABC added to the mix.  Like any Field Magic card, it's something you need to protect in order to fully utilize.  But even after just a turn or two, you can gain some serious advantage from this one.  The new monsters A, B, and C are improvements over X, Y, and Z, and in addition to their own new support, can work well together, vis a vis, the new beefy Fusion of ABC and XYZ.  Not to say if you're using one set, you need to use the other.  As for this card, it's powerful, yet balanced.  You get to Special Summon (but note what you choose can't be unattached from the Union you equip to) and grants speed to the Deck.  The original trio is about speed too, so this is very good.  It'll be interesting to see if this theme can take the scene or not.

Happy Halloween! Union Hangar starts this week as a great Field Spell for ABC decks. This card can only be activated once per turn, but it packs a lot of deck thinning into one card. The first effect is to search any Light Machine-type Union Monster from the Deck to the hand. Then when you obviously Normal Summon that monster, you can equip a different Light Machine-type Union Monster to it from the Deck. This second effect also works off the detached Special Summon of Light Machine-type Union monsters. It can also activate multiple times per turn. Basically, you go through the deck at least twice per turn to set up the grave for the Fusion Monster. Terraforming is absolutely essential to search Union Hangar, and Structure Decks continue to have very good Field Spell Cards.
