Baneful

Welcome to Trump week, where we look at the 5 most popular Wall cards.  Will any of these walls be suitable for border protection?  Let's find out.

Imperial Iron Wall is a special kind of wall that prevents banishing.  It prevents your cards from being banished, so they're still in play in the graveyard.  It also prevents the opponent from banishing their own cards as costs and such.  The card is reactive.  As a Continuous Trap, it unfortunately means that cards like Twin Twister and Mystical Space Typhoon can disrupt it, but at the same time, it could potentially be a floodgate that hurts the opponent for several turns and even one that wins you the duel.  It has a specific niche use of preventing certain plays.  It's not good for general offense, defense or control but it can be devastating at the right moments, making it a very good side deck choice (depending on the deck, meta and matchups).

For border security, a giant wall made of iron would definitely keep people out.  It's imperial, so it's the best of quality.  The downside is that having an all-metal wall can get very pricy for the taxpayer, plus the millions of gallons of CLR that one must use to get rid of the rust.  So, no good.

But as a card, I give it a 4/5.  It's always been a good card.  It's meta dependent but it always has a way of becoming relevant again.

This week on Pojo’s CotD, in… honor?... of a certain (in)famous presidential candidate and his wall, we’ll be reviewing some wall cards. I guess.

Today’s card is by far the best card of this bunch: Imperial Iron Wall. Its effect is very simple, but very effective; cards cannot be banished. This is a floodgate, and boy do I hate floodgates.

Like any other floodgate, Imperial Iron Wall goes in and out of use. Its first instance of widespread play (if I’m not mistaken) was during the Dragon Ruler formats, and most recently it has been used to stop Kozmos from using any of their effects. It also has marginal use against Monarchs, as it prevents them from using the Graveyard effects of Pantheism and The Prime Monarch.

Floodgates shouldn’t exist, but the fact of the matter is that they do, and whenever a popular Deck has banishing as a primary focus, you can bet that other Decks will consider siding Imperial Iron Wall to keep them from playing.

Rating: 4/5

Imperial Iron Wall begins wall week. It's a Continuous Trap Card that stops all banishing from anywhere. Don't chain this to a cost because the effect will still go through. You have to activate this before you think you're opponent is going to want to banish something. Imperial Iron Wall is an excellent side deck option against Kozmo decks. That alone makes the card relevant and useful. Keep 3 around for future decks that abuse banishing.

Score: 4/5 This chained to your own Allure of Darkness is +2.
Art: 4/5 Shiny iron wall.
