Speedroid Terrortop
- #HSRD-EN001

If you control no monsters, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand). When this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 "Speedroid" monster from your Deck to your hand, except "Speedroid Terrortop". You can only use this effect of "Speedroid Terrortop" once per turn.

Speedroid Terrortop

For good reason, Terrortop made waves upon its release. It has the perfect storm effect. Special summon with no restriction and gives you a plus. Regardless of what it could search for, what combos were available, and what its stats were, Terrortop was destined to succeed. List other cards that can do that, and you won’t be counting long. And the speedroid engine as a result is very good, very fast, and produces monsters like Clear Wing and Crystal Wing that are top Synchro options in today’s meta.

Speaking of synchros, the best part about Terrortop is that he has extra deck options. And it’s always noteworthy when a card is possessed by a key character in the current anime. Future speedroid support should be expected, which makes Top’s future potential off the charts. This monster is unique in what it can do, and it should be a regular sight for several years until it’s finally abused beyond the point of acceptance. I expect this card to one day be on the restricted list, but not any time soon. Like the infamous Stratos, enough support leads to the banning of can trips.

For Friday we have something completely different. It's also the first of July yay! Speedroid Terrortop is a Level 3 Wind Machine-type monster with 1200 Atk and 600 Def. Though Speedroids were intended for Synchro plays, this has become part of a two card combo for Level 3 XYZ monsters. In either case, the only stats that matter are that it is a Speedroid and that it is Wind.

This Little Engine that Could pops in decks that want easy consistency turn one, usually Burning Abyss. Without using any Burning Abyss effects or a Normal Summon, you could summon this and go straight to Dante. Speedroid Terrortop can activate its own effect to Special Summon itself while you control no monsters and then trigger its other effect to add any Speedroid from your Deck to your Hand except Terrortop and only once per turn. So search Taketomborg for easy Rank 3 plays in any deck. Taketomborg just happens to Special Summon itself straight to the field while you control a Wind monster. Speedroid Terrortop will be one of those engines that forum people say "does the Speedroid engine work for x deck?" and with good reason. Keep copies around even if you don't run it.

Score: 4/5 Combo cards aren't perfect on their own.
Art: 4/5 Bug dice things are cool.
