Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh! Card of the Day
Daily Since 2002!

Infernoid Devyaty
- #CROS-EN032

Cannot be Normal Summoned/Set. Must be Special Summoned (from your hand or Graveyard) by banishing 3 "Infernoid" monsters from your hand or Graveyard while the total Levels and Ranks of all Effect Monsters you control are 8 or lower, and cannot be Special Summoned by other ways. When this card is Special Summoned: You can destroy all Spell and Trap Cards on the field, except "Void" cards. Once per turn, during either player's turn, when another monster's effect is activated: You can Tribute 1 monster; negate the activation, and if you do, banish it.

"Mean and Evil"

Species: Infernoid Devyaty, インフェルノイド・リリス (Infernoid Lilith), the Night Specter. I. Devyaty sports a serpentine physique, and is - no exaggeration here - the best monster in the deck. On summon she destroys any non-"Void" spell/trap cards on the field, and once per turn her controller may tribute a monster to negate the activation of an effect monster's effect - an inverted I. Onuncu so to speak. Surely the boss "Infernoid" monsters' requirement to banish three of their kin to be summoned to begin with is nothing to scoff at, but it's a sacrifice the colony is willing to make, for Infernoid Devyaty and Infernoid Onuncu provide something no other "Infernoid" monster does: control.

A valid strategy is to summon Infernoid Devyaty to destroy an opponent's backrow, as well as their pendulum scales, then bring out Mechanical Hound through Monster Gate/Reasoning or by tributing weaker "Infernoid' monsters: without the ability to activate spells, many decks will be limited to their once-per-turn normal summon, and Infernoid Devyaty just so happens to be able to tribute herself in order to negate dangerous monster effects...

Playability: 5/5. A true boss for the "Infernoid" deck.

Paladin

This time we look at Infernoid Devyaty, a Level 9 Monster, and requires the removal of THREE Monster prior to being Special Summoned (this has been reference prior as to number of removals per level).  So first, there's a built in Heavy Storm, as when this card is Special Summoned, you destroy all Magic and Trap cards on the Field that aren't "Void" cards.  Secondly, once a turn, during either players' turn, when an effect Monster activates its effect, you can Tribute a Monster to negate the activation, and if successful, said Monster is removed from play.  It does some cool stuff, absolutely, though I feel asking for the three Monsters to be Summoned is a bit much.  Kind of like a Monster requiring triple XYZ Material.  The tribute for a removal is nice, even if it's a bit dependent, as that's an even trade, although you may come out ahead as your Monster only goes to the Graveyard.  The 2900 attack (and defense) make this card a beast.

Devyaty is a powerhouse. 2900/2900 ATK/DEF is acceptable for a Level 9. While this one takes three “Infernoid” monsters to Special Summon, Devyaty makes up for it. Same rules apply for Devyaty as do to all “Infernoid” monsters. Optional mass s/t destruction effect upon Special Summoning is very good at clearing away troublesome s/t on your opponents field while leaving your “Void” s/t unaffected. Instead of the typical tribute to banish a card in your opponents graveyard during their turn is also replaced with the ability to tribute a monster you control to negate a monster's effect and destroy it. During either players turn gives Devyaty the ability to attack aggressively as long as they have a monster to tribute during that turn.

You can summon “Infernoid” monsters up to a combined Level/Rank of seven or lower before Special Summoning Devyaty, but you would want to clear the opponents s/t to avoid any monster removal. If you summon Devyaty first, you won't be summoning any more “Infernoid” monsters until it leaves the field, which will prevent it from likely using its monster effect negation effect. You have to set up the field, then Special Summon Devyaty. If the Bottomless Trap Hole or Solemn Warning happens, you'll hopefully have enough “Infernoid” monsters to bounce back.
