Pojo's Yu-Gi-Oh! Card of the Day
Daily Since 2002!

Elemental HERO Blazeman
- #WSUP-EN032

If this card is Normal or Special Summoned: You can add 1 "Polymerization" from your Deck to your hand. During your Main Phase: You can activate this effect; you cannot Special Summon monsters for the rest of this turn, except Fusion Monsters, also send 1 "Elemental HERO" monster from your Deck to the Graveyard, except "Elemental HERO Blazeman", and if you do, this card's Attribute, ATK, and DEF each become the same as the monster sent to the Graveyard, until the end of this turn. You can only use 1 "Elemental HERO Blazeman" effect per turn, and only once that turn.

Between being a searcher, a dumper and a fusion material clone, it provides a nice buff (won't be tier 1 - but still pretty good overall) for EHERO decks and is a must-have for them.

Elemental HERO Blazeman...he's an interesting card.  If Normal or Special Summoned, you can add a Polymerization to your Hand.  Not bad, but not particularly good either, as a good HERO Deck wouldn't be relying on Poly anyway.  You can choose to not Special Summon for the rest of the turn, save Fusion Summon, which doesn't hurt a HERO Deck, and also send an Elemental Hero from your Deck to your Graveyard, save this card, then this cards attribute, and attack and defense, become the same as the selected Monster you chose.  You can only use one effect of this card, once per turn.  He's very average, the second effect is much better than the first, but you don't need this guy to make the HERO Deck go.

Hello Pojo Fans,

With Shadow Mist entering the TCG, the HERO decks were coming out of hibernation. Now things are going to heat up with the release of Elemental HERO Blazeman.

Weak on his own in terms of ATK and DEF, you will be main decking Blazeman for his effects. Once per turn you can activate either, and, depending on the build you run, it can set up some big plays. Either add a Polymerization from your deck to your hand, or send an Elemental HERO to your grave and Blazeman will mimic it's ATK, DEF, and Attribute.

If you play Polyermization, you will have some use for the first effect. If you don't, you will be deferring to use effect #2. This first effect is handy though, taking up a slot(s) King of The Swamp may  or Fusion Sage/ Fusion Recovery may have been taking up.

Effect #2 is where it's at. Bury an Elemental HERO, gain it's ATK, DEF, and Attribute. While that copycat move may not seem big, it sets up potential Fusion moves with monster requiring specific Attributes, or setting up your graveyard for Miracle Fusion. Mask Change also combos well with Blazeman, who already has a target in the Extra Deck for Mask Change, but then can become anything for Mask Change to combo with.

The restriction of only being able to Special Summon Fusion monsters the turn you activate either effect can be restrictive. However, with all the fusing typical HERO decks do, this may not be a problem. Also, thanks to the wording of Blazeman's effect, you aren't restricted to specifically Fusion Summoning the Fusion monsters, you can also Special Summon them with things like Mask Change, Call of The Haunted, and Soul Charge. The combo everyone is thinking of for this card is matching it up with Shadow Mist. Bury Shadow Mist with Blazeman, Blazeman becomes a DARK, Shadow Mist kicks in the graveyard, netting you a HERO monster. The burying effect of Blazeman can also clear out any potential dead draws you may be facing later in the game.
