Welcome to Shaddoll week!  We're going to review each of the deck's main monsters.

Here's a quick roundup of the Shaddoll crew so you can see the variety here.

Beast

Flip: Draw 2, Discard 1

Grave: Draw 1

Squamata

Flip: Destroy monster

Grave: Dump Shaddoll

Dragon

Flip: Bounce a card

Grave: S/T removal

Falco

Flip: Set Shaddoll from grave

Grave: Sets itself

Hedgehog

Flip: Search Shaddoll Spell/Trap

Grave: Search Shaddoll Monster

Shaddoll Beast

Shaddoll Beast is the big monster of the main deck.  At 2200 ATK, it can manage some threats that the 1800-1900 Dragon and Squamata can't, but overall, you're best in leaving the offense to your Extra Deck.

Sometimes its worth the tribute summon, and if you want to run Majesty's Fiend in the deck, this card is another target for The Monarchs StormForth.  But usually, you want to Special Summon this card.

This is ideally the card you use Falco's flip effect on, like 80% of the time.  Unless you really need Hedgehog's search or Squamata's removal.

Mathematician cannot dump LV5 or higher monsters from the deck, but if you use Mathematician's effect to dump Squamata, you can also dump Beast to draw.

You usually want Shaddoll Beast to be the first Shaddoll you dump to your grave so you can combo it with Falco later on.

The best thing about Shaddoll Beast is that the draw effect is something you'll never not want.  The opponent might not have Spells/Traps for Dragon to destroy.  You might not need any Shaddoll monsters in your hand via Hedgehog.  You may not want a Defense Position Falco via Falco's effect yet.  But you're always going to want a free draw.

Some players want to cut this to two because they don't want it in their hand.  Yeah, you can still use it for Shaddoll Fusion in your hand, but this is not a monster you want in your hand for the summoning aspect of it.  Other players will love draw power each turn and want to run 3.

Assessments

Power – 4/5 ; It has the strongest Flip Effect of the bunch.  In addition to granting you brand new cards, it lets you dump a card.  You can dump a Shaddoll to trigger an effect or dump a dead card.

Versatility – 4/5 ; There won't be a single moment where you wouldn't want draw power.  Unlike, let's say, Squamata's monster removal effect, if the opponent only controls a floater.

Dependability – 3/5 ; Being at LV5, its harder to bring out.  And rarely worth the tribute Set.  Thankfully, you can discard it, but it's not a card you would be enthusiastic to draw into.  You'd rather be milling it.

Card Advantage – 4/5 ; The draw 2 cards and discard 1 effect is essentially a plus, especially because the discard triggers an effect.  The grave effect is a good 1-for-1.

Speed – 3/5 ; Flip effects are slow, but since its graveyard effect nets you a card that you could use immediately, it gets high marks on speed.

Ratings

Traditional – 3.5/5 ; It's like a second Broww.  A DARK for Chaos.  Helps draw power too.

Advanced – 3.75/5 ; Gets some of points docked off for being harder to summon but is overall as good as the others.

Mechanic Design – 3/5 ; Giving it the most powerful flip effect at the cost of it being a tribute monster was a fair deal.

Artwork – 4/5 ; Love the amount of detail and sharpness of this drawing.

---

Verdict

A big cumbersome draw machine that helps the consistency of the deck.  Run 2-3.

Shaddoll Beast

Effectwise Shaddoll Beast has a FLIP effect, which allows you to draw 2 cards and then discard 1, making it a miniature Graceful Charity. Of course this does mean that this has to be face-down first so you could either tribute set this card, which is a bit of a waste or use something like Shaddoll Falco it special summon it face-down which would be a lot better.

Like all Shaddoll main monsters Shaddoll Beast has an effect that activates when its sent to the Graveyarrd via a card effect. In this case it allows you to draw a card. Since the easiest way to get this effect is by Fusion Summoning this means you get a Fusion Monster something like El Shaddoll Winda which this cards fulfils either requirement and you get a card. Of course you can only use 1 effect per turn, this is clearly done to stop people from drawing 3 cards in a turn, because Konami hate draw power.
Overall a very good card for Shaddoll decks and if you have cards that will allow you to special summon face-down monster it might be worth a look as well.

Shaddoll Beast
Well the first "major" event of the season went down this past weekend in ARG Atlantic City and despite a strong showing from Shaddolls, they did not take the event. They did still put 6 into top 16 and that's not bad at all. Today we look at Shaddoll Beast, currently the only tribute monster in the shaddoll lineup and the jury is out on the correct number to play as they went 50/50..or 3/3 on running either 3 or 2 copies of it mained. Now despite being a tribute, it is possible to get it to the field without tributing and we'll discuss how later in the week here at CotD. Its more likely used effect is simple, if sent to the GY by a card effect, draw a card. You can Shaddoll Fusion it to the grave, and draw. You can Mathematician it directly to the grave and draw, or use Math to send one of the other shaddoll monsters to send it to the grave and draw. It's that easy! If you do manage to get it on the field and flip summon it(or get it run over in battle), you get a mini graceful charity(Remember that one?) and you get to draw 2 cards instead of 1, but you have to discard one card but since you're likely gonna discard a shaddoll, that discard means nearly squat! Pick up some DUEA at your local Hobby Shop(buy local y'all) and try out the Shaddoll theme for yourself!

Today is the first day of Shaddoll week! Something to keep in mind is that every Shaddoll has two effects: a Flip Effect and an effect that triggers when they’re sent to the Graveyard by a card effect (which is where Shaddoll Fusion comes in). Only one of these effects can be activated per turn, and only once per turn. Additionally, every Shaddoll (with the exception of Construct) is the corrupted version of another monster.

Shaddoll Beast is the corrupted version of Naturia Beast. As such, it has a hefty 2200 ATK and 1700 DEF, and is also the only Main Deck Shaddoll monster to be above Level 4 (in this case, it’s Level 5). Beast’s Flip Effect is essentially a smaller version of Graceful Charity, as it lets you draw two cards and then discard any one. This is a nice way to get some extra draw power and trigger another Shaddoll in your hand, but it is somewhat tough to pull off since Beast requires a Tribute to Set. More often than not, the way you’ll be getting Beast face-down on the field is through the effect of Falco (who we’re reviewing later this week), so you’ll probably seldom use this effect.

Shaddoll Beast’s effect that triggers upon being sent to the Graveyard by card effect allows you to draw one card. This is a pretty good effect to say the least, because it lets Beast instantly replace itself when milled, sent to the Graveyard by Foolish Burial or some other similar card, or used in a Fusion Summon. So when you use Shaddoll Beast, ideally no advantage is lost in the process.

Overall, Shaddoll Beast is a strong card that provides consistency and advantage to the Shaddoll archetype. If you use Shaddoll, it would be wise to run at least 2 copies of this guy.
