Continuing our Top 10 Countdown from Cosmo Blazer, we look at some more support for the Fire Fist Archtype in Fire Form Tenki, which comes in at #5.  Don't get me wrong, this is a sweet, and powerful Magic card, but there isn't a whole lot to say.  When activated, you can add a Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior type Monster from your Deck to your Hand.  Secondly, all Beast-Warriors you control gain 100 attack, and you can only activate one Tenki per turn.  The Monster retrieval is the best ability here, and the 100 attack boost seems negligible (it is) but in combination with other Fire Formation cards, it works well.

Welcome to week two of the top 10 countdown of the best cards from Cosmic Blazar! Today we will be looking at one of the best common cards we have received in a long time and provides consistency to beast-warrior decks everywhere; let’s take a look at Fire Formation – Tenki!

Fire Formation – Tenki
Continuous Spell Card
When this card is activated; You can add 1 Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior monster from your deck to your hand. All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK. You can only activate 1 “Fire Formation – Tenki” per turn.

Why are the fire fist powerful? It isn’t just Bear or Gorilla; nor it is just the powerful combos of Chicken or Spirit. Tiger King’s revival and effect negation doesn’t push it over the type by itself. The reason why the Fire – Fist are so powerful is because they have access to 3 Reinforcement of the Army for beast-warriors that in addition to searching out the Fire Fist monsters; allows them to utilize the spell after it’s been played.

We have seen how powerful searching can be; with cards like Atlantean Dragoons; Snoww, Stratos (which inspired an emergency ban-list), Inzektor Centipede, and so much more. But Tenki is different because it doesn’t just search for your Fire-Fist monsters; but those fire-fist monsters then use Tenki as fuel to gain advantage by either destroying a card or summoning something else to which you can xyz summon.  Heck, you can use it to search Bear to destroy something and let Bear deal damage to search out… another Tenki.

A searcher for a searcher for a searcher? Search-Ception? (Yes. I went there).

Let’s also not forget the 100 point boost; which is very useful. It can get Bear, Gorilla, Dragon, or Tiger King get over threats, it also created the Vorse Raider combo. Some stun versions of Fire-Fist can run Vorse Raider alongside Tenki to abuse Deck Devistation Virus to wipe out your opponent’s resources. Wind-ups, Geargia and Altanteans lose their main combo pieces, Rabbit loses their win condition, and basically any deck relying on weak monsters to win can be destroyed by a two-card combo of Tenki and Deck Dev; as Tenki will boost Vorse Raider up to 2000 attack points.

So yes, it’s the reason why Fire-Fists are playable; but let’s not forget that Tenki is NOT just for Fire-Fists; it’s for all beast-warriors. Some notable targets:

Wind-Up Rabbit
T.G. Warwolf
Reborn Tengu
Vorse Raider
Gladiator Beast Darius
Gladiator Beast Laquari

All of a sudden, some older decks become incredibly more consistent with Tenki in their Arsenal; namely T.G. and Glad Beast (Yes they have Ground as a generic searcher; but the extra 100 points can be quite benefital). I personally have been messing around with a T.G. Stun build using Wind-Up Rabbit; which is extremely consistent thanks to Tenki.

Advanced: 4.5

A generic searcher that has as much versatility as Reinforcement of the Army; separating it from the likes of Fossil Dig. Simply an amazing card with incredible potential.

Traditional: 2.5

Decent; though I don’t know how effective Beast-Warriors are here.

Art: 4.0

Again, I love the design of the Fire Fist, especially in a design like this!

Today we are looking at number 5 in our Cosmo Blazer top 10 countdown: Fire Formation – Tenki

“When this card is activated: You can add 1 Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK. You can only activate 1 "Fire Formation - Tenki" per turn.”

Fire Formation – Tenki (Tenki) card is really cool card, it not only provides a level of search power we haven’t really seen implemented this well since Six Samurai, it also provides a solid search for any number of other archetypes. The little attack boost is nice too, though not entirely needed. (For my review I am going to focus mainly on the search effect.)

Based on the name alone you might say Tenki was mainly intended for the Fire Fist. But don’t forget it lets you search for ANY level 4 or lower beast-warrior type monster. This opens the floodgates and allows you to use it in anything that runs at least a few beast-warrior monster. This includes Fire Fist (of course), Consteller, T.G., and even Gladiator beasts. (Maybe we will even see a new Gladiator variant at YCS Miami?) I love toolbox decks, and Tenki helps make some weird ones more feasible.

The main caveat to playing Tenki is that it remains on the field after it resolves, this prevents you from using cards like Gorz the Emmisary of Darkness that require an empty field. On the flipside we have the fact that it remains on the field after it resolves, allowing you to make some unique tech choices in your deck. (Anteatereatingant, and Storm pop to mind)

Overall I really like this card and I hope that Konami keeps making cards like this in the future for other archetypes.

Okay today we have a card that has been seeing a lot of play. It is a card that can be used in many different decks and will only get better over time.  So here is #5 card on this Cosmo Blazer Top Ten list.

Fire Formation-Tenki
Continuous Spell

When this card is activated: You can add 1 Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK. You can only activate 1 "Fire Formation - Tenki" per turn.

Now first off this card is very versatile.  It can search out ANY level 4 or lower Beast warrior type monster to your hand from your deck.  This means you can use it obvious decks such as Fire Fists and eventually in Fire Kings.  It probably would fit best in those decks but it can also be used in Gladiator Beast, X-saber, and T.G decks.  This card is also an automatic +1 and can give your Beast-warrior type monsters a small attack boost.  I am surprised that this card wasn’t made to only work with Fire Fist monsters.  There aren’t many continuous spell cards that are used in this game right now but this card is definitely worth using.

I don’t really suggest that this card be used outside of Fire Fist and Fire King decks, but it is still a cool card to try out in other decks.

Advanced: 4/5

-There isn’t really anything bad to say about this card.  It is very versatile and is an automatic +1 right off of activation.  If you’re running Fire Fists, I would definitely suggest using multiple copies of this card.  It is also a fun card to try in other decks as well.

Traditional: 2/5

-I’m not sure if this card would be good in this format or not but it could be useful here.

Art: 3/5

-Tenki’s art is okay but most of the Fire Fist cards have better artwork than this card.

Fire Formation Tenki
Continuous Spell
When this card is activated: You can add 1 Level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior-Type monster from your Deck to your hand. All Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control gain 100 ATK. You can only activate 1 "Fire Formation - Tenki" per turn.

Number 5 on our countdown of the Top 10 cards from Cosmo Blazer is Fire Formation – Tenki. Fire Formation – Tenki is a Continuous Spell Card with two effects, the first effect only happens when you activate the card, which isn’t a thing that you usually see with Continuous Spells, and it happens to be the Beast-Warrior version of Reinforcements of the Army, which is always a good effect. The second continuous effect gives all Beast-Warrior-Type monsters you control an extra 100 ATK. This effect isn’t much; 100 ATK is a bit too low for a boost, if it was an effect similar to The A-Forces then it would be better.

Overall Fire Formation – Tenki is a great card for Beast-Warrior decks. The ATK gain is weak but that’s not the reason people will play this card.

Today's card is well known as the backbone of the Fire Formation deck. Tenki is the Reinforcements of the Army for Beast-Warriors, as it lets you get a level 4 or lower Beast-Warrior from your deck to your hand. Also, all Beast-Warriors you control gain 100 ATK, and you can only activate one Tenki per turn. The reason this card is so good is that it doesn't fit in just Fire Fist, but also Gladiator Beasts and T.G. decks as well. The 100 ATK boost is meh, but hey, all you may need sometimes is a little extra muscle to solve a problem. I would rate this card a little higher, but it is a Continuous Spell card and an easy target for Mystical Space Typhoons and Heavy Storm. You like Beast-Warriors, then you'll love this card.
