One interesting thing about Hidden Arsenal 7 was that (I believe after a fairly detailed look at the set) is that all of the Evilswarm Monsters in this set have attack and defense that end in 50...Evilswarm Ouroboros is a Rank 4 XYZ Monster, XYZ Summoned with three Level 4 Monsters. This XYZ Monster is a Dark attributed Dragon with 2750 attack, so it's certainly powerful for Rank 4, and 1950 defense.

I'm not generally a fan of XYZ Monsters requiring three (or even more) XYZ Material, but make no mistake, this guy is pretty good. By discarding an XYZ Material, you get a choice of one of three effects:

You get a spin option, in the ability to target a card your opponent controls and return it to their Hand.

You get a Hand disruption option, in the ability to select a card at random from the opponent's Hand and send it to the Graveyard

Or you get a removal effect to target a card in your opponent's Graveyard and remove it from play.

A powerful card gains some balance in only being able to use one effect per turn. Each effect can only be used once, but even so, you still have 2750 attack to fall back on. Being a Dragon he gets all the support entitled with that, and he's Dark to boot.

Ratings:

Traditional: 3/5 Might be a little slow, but still not bad

Advanced: 4.25/5

Art: 5/5

The next archetype that Hidden Arsenal #7 is going to make competitive is Evilswarm. Evilswarm Ouroboros epitomizes what Evilswarm is all about by controlling the hand, field, and graveyard, much like Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier used to do. At 2750 in attack (sorry but with one exception all Evilswarms end in 50), it can hold it’s own on the field. Couple that with its disruptive effects and you have a pretty strong monster. The only drawback is that it takes three level 4 monsters to summon.

Summoning Evilswarm Ouroboros is not that difficult in the right deck. Gadgets with Ultimate Offerings, Wind-Ups, Heroes, Hunder, Harpie, and yes, even Evilswarm can make good use of Ouroboros. By special summoning Evilswarm Mandragora, normal summoning Evilswarm Castor or Kerykeion, and then using their extra normal summon effects to summon another Evilswarm; we can easily have our 3 level 4 monsters. We could also use Sommoner Monk on the above or use Rescue Rabbit with Heliotrope to get most of what we need for Ouroboros’s summon.

Evilswarms also have a plethora of support as they are dark monsters, so we could use Evilswarm Salamandra, Dark Armed Dragon, Creeping Darkness, and Macro Cosmo’s to banish monsters and then bring them back with Return of the Different Dimension, Chaos Zone, and Different Dimension Reincarnation. Whether you are using Evilswarm Ouroboros in a dark deck like Evilswarms, or in a deck that spam’s level 4 monsters, it is worth finding extra deck space for, just as Trishula was before it was banned.

Welcome to day 2 of Hidden Arsenal 7 week! Today we will be looking at one of the coolest DT archetype bosses to ever be released thanks to their throwback to the old themes. Lets take a look at "Evil-Trish", Evilswarm Ouroboros!

Evilswarm Ouroboros
DARK/ Dragon/ Rank 4

 3 Level 4 monsters
Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to activate 1 of these effects. Each effect can only be used once while this card is face-up on the field.
● Target 1 card your opponent controls; return that target to the hand.
● Send 1 random card from your opponent's hand to the Graveyard.
● Target 1 card in your opponent's Graveyard; banish that target.

2750 ATK/ 1950 DEF

In terms of artwork, Evilswarms are definately the best DT design we have had in awhile. Essentially, they are Zombie DT cards! And Trish itself is quite the main boss monster. While easily accessible by rank 4 decks, the ability is a bit weaker than our old forbidden friend. But lets dive right in!

2750 is a very respectable attack stat for a rank 4, even one requiring 3 materials. The only ones to surpass that are Shark Drake, Shark Drake Vice, and Gagagio. On top of that, you have 3 possible effects to use, each mirroring the effect that Trish had. Sadly, you can only get an effect each turn and only once of each effect. However, each effect is incredible! Either a compulsory, random discard, or a D.D. crow. For 3 level 4 monsters, that is a huge amount of versatility in one card!

Shock Master is definately going to fight for its space in some dedicated rank 4 decks to keep its spot as the best 3 material rank 4.

Advanced: 4.0

If you find yourself summoning many rank 4's, you should definately check this guy out. Its huge for the investment in terms of power and effect. Plus, it reminds you of the good old days of Trish!

Traditional: 1.5

Sadly, many of the effects it has are simply outclassed by already used banned cards. Simply not worth the investment.

Art Work: 4.5

As I said before, Evilswarms have some of my favorite artwork in the game. This evil version of Trishula is one as well!

Today's Card of the Day Review happens to be Evilswarm Ouroboros, a card that will be released in just a day or two from now.

This card happens to be the main boss of the Evilswarm archetype, who also happens to be the corrupt Trishula (and anyone who played when it was legal should know how powerful that monster was) and is generic to boot! It takes 3 Level 4 monsters to Xyz Summon it out and, frankly, it is powerful enough to be worth the trouble with a total of 2750 ATK, giving it suitable staying power.

Here is the effect for reference.

"Once per turn: You can detach 1 Xyz Material from this card to activate 1 of these effects. Each effect can only be used once while this card is face-up on the field.
● Target 1 card your opponent controls; return that target to the hand.
● Send 1 random card from your opponent's hand to the Graveyard.
● Target 1 card in your opponent's Graveyard; banish that target."

Pretty much it is Trishula's power re-done and toned down so you don't have to feel all of it at once.

The 1st effect is basically a larger-range Compulsory Evacuation Device. Excellent for removing Synchro/Xyz/Fusion monsters off the field or getting rid of a big monster. Also, since it says "card" and not "monster", this works just as well on Spells/Traps. Removing that Safe Zone off of a monster can do you a whole lot of good, for example. Getting rid of a predicted Mirror Force or Dimensional Prison will give you room to attack.

Generally basic stuff but the flexibility is most welcomed.

The 2nd effect hits your opponent hand and takes a card out of it. Also, since it says "send" and not "destroy", even Dark World won't like getting the end of that effect.

The last effect is a D.D. Crow on legs but even better since it states that you can target anything, not just monsters. With so many decks being reliant on the Graveyard, dropping this and stripping out that one card that they need would set them back a few turns, more than enough to do some real damage.

Unfortunately, this card does have a limitation that you can only use each of those 3 effects just once so if you use the 2nd effect to hit the hand, you can't use that effect again while it is face-up. Now, you can Book of Moon it, flip it face-up, and do it again but, for the most part, once you use it, you can't do it again.

Overall, this card is a flexible problem-solver. However, its ATK is low enough (for the investment) that it can be owned by a boss monster. Also, since it is an Xyz monster, Compulsory Evacuation Device, Bottomless Trap Hole, and other commonly-played Traps will ruin this card in no time flat.

It is a good card. It is not broken like Trishula was and we should be grateful for that. Any deck that can drop 3 Level 4s should consider this alongside Shock Master. In my opinion, this will give Vylon Disigma the boot out of most people's Extra Deck since this card solves the issue Vylon Disigma is used for even better.

Traditional Format: 2/5 (I doubt you would drop this in that format. Easier ways to deal with stuff there than to go into this.)
Advanced Format: 4/5 (It's not bad. Not broken at all but it is certainly is usable. It is worth picking one up and keeping it in your Extra Deck part of your binder.)
