Closing the week, we look at another XYZ, Photon Strike Bounzer, a Rank 6, Warrior-type, Light attributed XYZ, who is XYZ Summoned with two Level 6 Monsters.  Photon Strike Bounzer has 2700 attack and 2000 defense, both of which I'd consider to be quite good for a Rank 6.  This Monster allows you the option of negating the effect of an opponent's effect monster, by discarding an XYZ Material Monster.  If said negation is successful, you also inflict 1000 Damage to your opponent.  That's a nice bonus to an all ready nice effect, obviously assuming it's successful.  Good effect, great attack, easy enough to Summon, I think we have another XYZ winner.

Ratings:

Traditional:  3/5  Harder to summon higher Rank XYZ Monsters (above Rank 4)
Advanced:  4/5
Art:  5/5  Could definitely be a Fiend or a Machine

Today’s card is one of those cards that are on most people’s want list. Photon Strike Bounzer has the ability to negate the effects of monsters that activate on your opponent’s side of the field. It cannot negate monster effects that activate in the hand, graveyard, or banished area. It also does not negate the activation of monsters or even destroy that monster. It can be activated in the damage step as it is a quick effect so when Gorz activates its effect to inflict damage or special summon a monster, you can negate it and stare down Gorz with your own 2700 attack. Too bad it does not destroy.

Photon Strike Bounzer may be useable in an Inzektor deck as it can make level 6 monsters quit easily if you focus on that. It is not too good against them because Hornet will just pop Strike Bounzer before it can negate the Inzektor on the field. It is very good against Wind-Ups even though it cannot touch Shark. It can stop Rescue Rabbit and Laggia, but it’s once per turn condition throws a dent in stopping Dolkka.

There are a number of decks that have level 6 monsters that could play Photon Strike Bounzer. Chaos, Monarch, Plants running Gigaplant and Copy Plant, Dragunity, and Gagaga decks are just some of those decks. Unfortunately, I think that the limitations that have been placed on it (once per turn, negate effects only, only monsters on your opponents side of the field, and no destruction), make this card far less effective than it could be. It is the cheep version of Dolkka. It’s only saving grace is that it can be summoned with any two monsters. Alas they have to be level 6 so that is not so nifty ether.

Today we review an interesting monster, Photon Strike Bounzer. I guess the placing of the Z in place of the C makes it more extreme. Anyways, Bounzer is a Rank 6 Xyz, needing 2 level 6 monsters. Bounzer's ability allows you once per turn, during either player's turn, to detach one Xyz material form this card to negate the effect of your opponent's monster when it activates, if you do also inflict 1000 damage to your opponent. It's hard enough to out muscle this guy, but he can negate an effect when it goes off once per turn, and inflicting 1000 damage can hurt as well. is only drawback/opponent's saving grace is that he only negates the monster effect, and not destroy. Balance is key to making a card. Inzektors, Photons and even the Gagaga duo can get out Bounzer pretty easy. Overall, a decent card, strong in ATK, and a good effect.

Photon Strike Bounzer

Now we're talking. It's a little bit tricky to get out 2 Level 6 guys to make his material, but this guy is worth the effort. The ability to negate any monster effect and do 1000 burn damage is one of the best XYZ effects I've seen thus far. He needs to have a deck tailored somewhat to bring him into play, but is one of the better XYZs there is.

I'll say right away that I prefer Strike Bounzer to Focus Force. It's true that Focus Force has better stats and its effect is better in the fact it does not necessarily have to be Chain Link 2, which Bounzer forces. However, the power boost in Focus Force is negligible, and Bounzer's burn side-effect hurts any opponent that intends to bait out Bounzer's effect. Also, on a minor note, Focus Force's Machine Typing causes it to be vulnerable to being absorbed by the opponent's Chimeratech Fortress Dragon. Finally, Bounzer has a better name, in terms of what support it can reap.

Now to discuss PSB himself... The potency to kill an opponent's effect, even if only once per turn, is a very powerful capability. At 2700 ATK himself, it would be very difficult for the opponent to take him out, much less if one monster is debilitated its effect. Backed by some Traps of your own, PSB, whether in a Photon or Bounzer Deck or not, will be very difficult to outmanuver (although I would highly consider PSB in either Photons or Bounzers).

Oh yes, and I also should've mentioned this in my review for Thunder Charger last
Tuesday... Don't forget that Fusions and Synchros are totally acceptable as Xyz Materials, so Instant Fusion is a possibility to easily set up a high-Rank Xyz.

Niche Decks: anything you think that can summon Level 6 monsters easily, I'd use this over Inzektor Exa-Beetle even in an Inzektor Deck, Dragunities, this is a great Gagaga option, this actually gives Photon Leo a viable use if you summon a pair with Twin Photon Lizard but I wouldn't really run Leo in any circumstances

Traditional: 2.5/5 (Magical Scientist is a reliable yet expensive method to summon Xyz Monsters fast, and Bounzer's effect negation could come in handy)
Advanced: 3.3/5
Aesthetics: 3.6/5 Aesthetics gets extra competitive-value points as the name grants Photon and Bounzer support. This isn't that great, as the only possible support options granted this way are Bounzer Guard, Twin Photon Lizard, and most effectively Photon Trident. The face looks weird though and that skinny body doesn't look like a "bouncer" to me. I also especially like how Kite's seemingly exclusive Photon archetype sees use by the other antagonists of Zexal. It means something...
