I think we've got a decent week here folks, today opens with Blizzard Princess. Let's see here...Water (not great), Level 8 requiring two tributes (worse yet), Spellcaster (actually not bad). Anyway, you can Tribute for this card by only tributing one Monster if said Monster is a Spellcaster, of course this card has to Summoned in face-up Attack position. One tribute for 2800 attack isn't a bad thing at all. During the turn Blizzard Princess is Normal Summoned, your opponent cannot activate Magic or Trap cards. Decent enough honestly, but not worth playing this card, even in a Spellcaster Deck I don't think.

Ratings:

Traditional: 1.75/5
Advanced: 2.75/5
Art: 5/5 Pretty cute

Blizzard Princess has everything you want in a monster except for a lasting effect. With 2800 attack, ease of summoning, and the ability to stop your opponent from activating spell and trap cards for a turn, Blizzard Princess can be very effective for one turn. After that, it can still give you great field presence.

It is really just good in Spellcaster decks as you need a Spellcaster to tribute to make it a one tribute monster. Running cards like Gravekeeper’s Spy, The Tricky, and Apprentice Magician give you the tributes that you need to summon the Princess. What brings the rating down on Blizzard Princess is the fact that its effect negation only lasts one turn and that Spellcasters are not even close to being top tier right now.

A new week...a bunch of new cards. I really, really like this card. You can tribute this card by using one spellcaster. That's good. When you do, the turn you do your opponent cannot activate spells or traps that turn, really good.  You can use this in almost anykind of spellcaster type deck, but I can really see this one shine in a Gravekeeper deck. The Tricky can get you this card out on your first tuen as well. This card is a pretty much a sure winner in a pure spellcaster deck, just not the best topdeck if you are living card by card.

Angelic Nightmare

Hello and welcome to another week of reviews! Now that my Spring “Break” (pshh) is over let me review today’s Fan Requested card:

Blizzard Princess

Spellcaster/ Water/ Lv 8/ 2800 ATK/ 2100 DEF

“You can Tribute Summon this card in face-up Attack Position by Tributing 1 Spellcaster-Type monster. During the turn this card is Normal Summoned, your opponent cannot activate Spell or Trap Cards.”

Today we have a 1 tribute monster for only spellcaster decks  that screams “save me for your big plays”. It being a 2800 beat stick is pretty decent in itself, considering the only real thing that can get over this would probably be BLS in the competitive seen, has some potential if you can drop it onto the field safely. There are some other options that this card has in spell caster decks and that is “Magical Dimension”.  With that card, you can drop this monster anytime you have a spellcaster on the field, granted you cannot have its effect activate if it is special summoned.

Overall, if you can hit a big play the turn this thing is tribute summoned you don’t have to worry about Mirror Force or Dimensional Prison.

Pros: Decent effect and good atk.

Cons: Its effect doesn’t activate to its general summon.

"You can Tribute Summon this card in face-up Attack Position by Tributing 1 Spellcaster-Type monster. During the turn this card is Normal Summoned, your opponent cannot activate Spell or Trap Cards."

We start another mixed card week with a very interesting one. BP is a very interesting card which acts like an opponent-only, 1 turn Cold Wave. There's a few ways to get Spellcaters onto the field to tribute 1 for her, so getting the big gal out shouldn't be too difficult. Great stats and effect and definately should be splashed into any Spellcaster deck. If you can get multiple monsters out on the same turn, she can come out normally as well. Do note that her effect only triggers when she's NORMAL summoned.

We have quite...I'll say, the most random assortment of cards this week. It's as if we had a number generator pick out our cards for the week. No, wait, no that's not true... Blizzard Princess was a viewer request. And now that I take another look, all of these cards are pretty famous GX manga cards that have never been reviewed before. Anyway...

This card is from all the way back from GX manga. She hails from a trio of "Blizzard" monsters that can shut down the opponent's actions: Blizzard Dragon freezing monsters and Blizzard Warrior controlling the opponent's next draw.

Now, granted, her first effect proves to be more effective than her second one: it gives you the strength of Dark Magician of Chaos for a single Tribute. Keep in mind, however, that you get almost the same deal with Frostosaurus or even Superancient Coelacanth with Legendary Ocean out. You will never use her outside of Spellcaster Decks, and thus her effectiveness is based off of how well she already functions in said deck. Off the top of my head, the only Spellcaster archetypes I can expect seeing used (from most likely to least likely) are Gravekeeper's, Spell Counters, and Dark Magician, perhaps Monarchs.

GK already has Gravekeeper's Visionary going for them as a beastly one-Tribute monster, and he even has his own protection effect to boot, so GK really has no need for the Princess.
Any other Spellcaster Deck...well... Blizzard Princess doesn't offer a whole lot for her plate. Yes, she has brawn and she's immune to BTH, but the problem is you really don't find you NEED her that much. If you miss Giant Trunade/Cold Wave that much, she's supposedly decent. Finally, she can be summoned with Magical Dimension. Rather a waste, considering she won't get her effect and can be Normal Summoned with a single Tribute anyways, but still, 2800 ATK off an ice cube mace ain't shabby. Not to mention that, but Spellcasters have been getting some pretty good support as of late; equip Princess with Gagagashield and your opponent may be in a bit of trouble.

And she could've made it so well as an Ice Barrier, but then again, she was before that time.

Niche Decks: Any Deck that uses a respectable amount of Spellcasters and that you think can utilize Princess well. If I could call a best-case scenario for Princess, it would be to Special Summon Chaos Sorceror, Banish someone, exchange Sorceror for Princess, then Banish said Sorceror to throw down Black Luster Soldier without fear of freak Traps.

Traditional: 1
Advanced: 2.5
Aesthetics: 5/5 She's rather pretty. Toka Tennoji from Nogizaka Haruka no Himitsu. High-five if you get the reference.

Philosophy Corner: Sorry, none for this week. I'm busy as is.
