Darklight, quite the Trap, in my opinion.  By tributing a Dark Monster with 1500 attack or more, destroy all Special Summoned Monsters, of the current turn.  Quite a simple requirement, although its worth noting that if you only take one Monster out with this, it is a -1.  But I like it.

Darklight is a super rare card from Photon Shockwave that can be pretty good in the right deck. First, we are going to want a deck that plays dark monsters with an attack or modified attack of 1500 or more. In today’s Meta, I can currently think of 4 deck types that will fulfill our requirements. The first is Dark World. Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World is the perfect bait for Darklight, Deck Devastation Virus, and Eradicator Epidemic Virus. As most of your monsters are big and being pumped up by The Gates of Dark World, your opponent will need to Xyz, synchro, or Chaos summon to be able to run over them.

The next deck type is Gravekeeper’s. With Necrovalley pumping up all of the Gravekeeper’s to 1500 or more, and your opponent needing a big monster to attack over them, Darklight is a good option. The third deck type that I can think of is Chaos/Stun. As half of the monsters meet our requirements, Darklight could come in useful. Try using it with Breaker to hit your opponent’s back row and then smash all of your opponent’s special summoned monsters. Works great with Doomcalibar Knight and Chaos Sorcerer as well.

The final deck type that I can think of that will work well with Darklight is Banishing decks. They run D.D. Survivor and Caius giving us at least 6 good targets. Most of the decks I mentioned use ether floaters or recursion monster so at the very least, using Darklight is a one for one. Playing Darklight can throw your opponent off their game and force them to play cautiously. It is not a bad option in the right deck and well worth trying out at one or two.

Thursday here on pojo, and we continue TRAP week with a look at a card that seems very familiar. Darklight is a trap card that can work alongside of the Virus trap cards, Deck Devastation, Eradicator Epicdemic and of course, Crush Card. Simply put, Darklight says Tribiue one DARK monster you control with 1500 ATK or more to destroy all monsters that were special summoned that turn. Careful, that means your monsters too. First thing that came to mind is that this is so useful against Dark World. They swarm, you catch them with Darklight and poof goes their field. A very handy card, while not as powerful as the virus cards, it's good for putting in your side deck, and good for stopping OTKs.

Moving up in the rarities! Today we're reviewing Darklight!

By Tributing a DARK monster with 1500+ ATK, you get to destroy all monsters that were Special Summoned that turn.

A decent card, but there are better choices. Deck Devastation Virus has the same cost, but potentially will hit more monsters and give you insight into your opponent's hand and their draws for the next three turns.

Keep in mind though, that they both destroy different things, and Darklight is more likely to hit the more dangerous, game winning cards like Hyperion, Grapha, Synchros etc which maybe more worth it.

The fact that it can only destroy cards Summoned that turn sucks though and really hampers this card's playability.

I would run DDV instead of this.

Angelic Nightmare

Hello all, welcome to another day of reviewing! Today we have a Trap from Photon Shockwave- Darklight.

It’s effect is really simple, tribute one DARK monster with 1500+ ATK and destroy all monsters that were special summoned this turn.

There are a few things that I can say about this card and that is it has some potential. With the Rumored “Tour Bus from the Underworld”, this might see some play. Dark world can easily crank out 1600+ ATK beat sticks to abuse it with. Plant-synchro can shutter from this if they don’t control a Stardust Dragon. All in all, this card is basically a watered down trap version Fossil Dyna for DARK Monsters.

Pros: Does NOT target, semi-easy conditions, and can hit multiple monsters.

Cons: It destroys your own monsters that were special summoned that turn and it’s a -1 if your opponent only special summons one monster that turn.

Darklight
Normal Trap
"Tribute 1 DARK monster with 1500 or more ATK; destroy all monsters that were Special Summoned this turn."

Now we're talking. this card just begs to be added to a dark World or Chaos deck. Being able to nuke any synchro, XYZ or nasty effect monster is always a good thing. The cost is very reasonable as well. Since most decks using DARK monsters either don't mind the lost of a monster or want them in the graveyard, this effect is rather easy to pull off without much debate. Also, there's TONS of good monsters who fulfill the requirements for the use of this card, so finding guys to axe for the cost of the effect will be very easy. If Darklight is triggered at the right time, it can devastate the opponent and win you the duel.

I wouldn't be surprised to see this card start appearing in tournament-level decks, truth be told.

CotD 12/2 Deep Dark Trap Hole

This is Blackmarketyugioh, welcoming Friday and our last CotD for this week, Deep Dark Trap Hole.

As the final trap closing up this week, I lol'd at this card. It is a normal trap, that says that you can activate when a Lv 5 or higher monster is special summoned. Banish the summoned monster(s). I like the fact that they are trying really hard to give some sort of replacement to BTH, but this card just doesn't meet up to BTH standards. Now don't get me wrong, this is not a bad card, just not a great card. It surely has some potential in being played ina lot of decks, but would you really pull your BTH out for this guy? Or add this in to your existing build? I would on casual side, but being a competitive player I just don't feel the need for it. It doesn't stop most of the Lv 4 monsters that we so much of (TKRO,DCK,Alius, etc.), and it is useless against Xyz monsters. The only thing that this card will really be good against would be Monarchs, Synchro heavy builds, and possibly Agent builds for Hyperion.

I like the card, I really do, but just can't see using in a competitive venue.

Traditional-2/5 Can see it being used.......???
Advanced-2/5 It has it's usefulness, but to what cost?
Artwork-4/5 How ironic is it that it is Goyo going down a deep, dark hole? Would have been awesome as a higher rarity.
