First let me welcome the new reviewers from yesterday on to the CotD team  :)  It's nice to see some new and fresh people around here.  Soundproofed, a very boring, and rather lackluster Magic card.  You can only use this card during Main Phase 1.  Until the End Phase of your opponent's next turn, neither player can Special Summon a Synchro monster.  OH, and you can't activate this card unless you control no Synchro monsters.  Seriously, I see this thing as about as useful as junk.  Skip this, Synchro, and win...it's that simple.

Ratings:

1/5 all

Art:  2/5  Even the picture isn't fun, but Dark Resonator seems to be having a hard time.

A card that I don't think is utter garbage, yay! Soundproofed seems like it should be renamed synchro proof as it basically prevents synchro summoning after being played; Main Phase 1, until your opponents next endphase. Fairly simple, and if you play an anit synchro summoning deck you just found yourself a new tool. However, many of the most popular don't bother synchro summoning; Gravekeepers/Frog Monarch.

This is a card that needs a deck for it....some silly deck that stuns and stops Synchros. Outside of this its fairly useless and won't be sought out. Its certainly not a good side deck card as there are betters, but mained in a stun deck of some sort it could have a chance.

I'm not saying thats a "good" idea buts its....well its an idea. Its not trashington but its far from good or useful. Test in something funny if you're bored.

Today’s card is Soundproofed, a rare normal spell card that can only be activated at the START of main phase 1. I really like this card. It is a Cold Wave for synchros and the cost is that you don’t have a synchro of your own on the field. A lot of anti-meta and gadgets can run this card as a tech option against synchro heavy decks (and many of the recent YCS topping decks rely on flooding). Gravekeepers can also use this card as well to increase the simplification process of the game state. Furthermore, with new Exceed/XYZ mechanic it still allows for big boss monsters to hit the field. This card will most likely end up as one of the more underrated cards of the set.

Traditional: 1 (Who needs synchros when there are Envoys and Demise OTK and etc?)

Today's card reminds me of Cold Wave since both cards need to be activated at the start of Main Phase 1. Basically we're looking at a Cold Wave for Synchro monsters. At first glance, I immediately disliked the card. I am never a fan of cards that are instant -1's and since this card has very little benefit there is absolutely no reason to run it. If I were to activate this card first turn, neither player could Synchro until my next turn. It probably wouldn't prevent my opponent from setting up so it would be a waste of a card 99% of the time. The only benefit I see from this card is stalling one turn and there are many other cards that do it better.

Basically, this card is a Cold Wave for Synchros. I can see this getting some play in more Anti-Meta-based decks or even ones that just plain don't Synchro Summon, but not much. Many decks do have some kind of option for making a Synchro. Obviously opening with this card would be the most beneficial, since a lot of meta decks can drop a Synchro or two on the first turn, but I would rather have Royal Oppression or whatever to just stop the Synchros altogether and then some.
