Sonic Chick, a card Yusei sure makes look pretty solid, is a Level 1, Earth attributed, Winged-Beast monster, with 300 attack and defense.  Anyway, Sonic Chick can't be destroyed in Battle by a monster with 1000 or more attack.  This IS a good effect, but generally we're looking for a card in this situation that can't be destroyed by Battle at all.  A good effect as you're forcing the opponent to use an effect or separate Magic or Trap card to destroy it.  Only having 300 attack and defense, about anything can destroy it however.

Sonic Chick, one of Yusei's favorite cards. Why did they have to make it so much worse than Obnoxious Celtic Guard or Gora Turtle?

Considering Sonic Chick is outclassed by those and other cards, you have to try to play to its strengths if you want to use it. It is retrievable with Junk Synchron thanks to its low level. It can be used for Formula Synchron, or used to make a one-star modification while Synchro Summoning. Its low ATK lets you retrieve it via Debris Dragon if you like. It's also a Winged Beast if you want to use Icarus Attack, but you're likely better off with Shield Wing for that. Wall of Revealing Light is a neat trick, since by paying 2000 Sonic Chick can never be destroyed by battle.

Overall, though, you should probably just use Spirit Reaper.
