69 Quite Bitter Beings:
How to Construct a Wombat Burn

July 29, 2005

Hey readers, ironically I figured I wouldn't be back this week for an article, but, here I am. Anyways, I'm sure you all know after reading my last article I'll be gone next week, go me! Anyways my past 2 articles (From Staff To You and this one) should be enough to fill your craving while I am gone. Anyways, unto the article!

TLM-EN031 Des Wombat
Earth/Beast/3/1600/300
Effect: As long as this card remains face-up on the field, any damage by a card effect to the controller of this card becomes 0.

So here it is. The bane of Burn...or is it? Oddly enough, this can be used in conjunction with Burner cards. One card comes to my mind, and it is Dark Snake Syndrome. Let's see what Dark Snake Syndrome does, for kicks.

PGD-087 Dark Snake Syndrome

Magic Card: Continuous

Inflict Direct Damage to you and your opponent’s Life Points during each of your Standby Phases. The first damage begins at 200 points and is doubled following each of your Standby Phases.

Hmm....very cool. Also note, Des Wombat stops any damage that would be inflicted to you via a card's effect. So your opponent now takes 200,400,800,1600,3200,6400 in a mere 6 turns. That is, if you can get Syndrome to last that long. So, how would one protect Dark Snake Syndrome effectively? You could use Magic Reflector, which is a personal favorite of mine. It gives a counter to a Magic/Spell card, should your opponent try to destroy it at this point, the counter takes its place and Dark Snake Syndrome would stay. In reality it is a -1 advantage, but in this case, I'm all for using it. Another idea would be Judgement of Anubis, which (in reality) is a -2 advantage, I personally dislike it, you may think other wise, there is nothing wrong with a bit of testing. So, unto the build of this deck.

This is more of a casual build for the deck. I run this build casually since its fun to play with. I've never attempted a competitive one, should I, I shalt post it in the Forums. Anyways, how this decks runs is a complete success should you play your cards right (no pun intended). Curse of Darkness, Ring of Destruction, and Dark Snake Syndrome are all negated by Des Wombat if I'm not mistaken, should I be, ignore me. So, this concludes the article, sorry I couldn't be more descriptive, but I am pressed on time. Hope you enjoyed this guys. = )
