Deck Fix: WiCkEd's Deck

July 18, 2005

Hey yo guys. 'Tis I, WiCkEd once again. Im happy to announce to you all we'll be fixing...my deck today. Well, more so, one of my decks today. Seems off the beaten path but, I wanted to try something new and show you how I'd fix my own deck after serious play testing. Onto my decklist.

1 x Airknight Parshath

1 x Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive

2 x Des Lacooda

2 x Magician of Faith

2 x Tsukuyomi

1 x Asura Priest

1 x Sangan

1 x Breaker the Magical Warrior

1 x Tribe-Infecting Virus

1 x Sinister Serpent

2 x Bokoichi the Freightening Car

1 x Pot of Greed

1 x Graceful Charity

1 x Card Destruction

2 x Scapegoat

2 x Metamorphosis

2 x Wave-Motion Cannon

2 x Level Limit-Area B

2 x Smashing Ground

2 x Nobleman of Crossout

1 x Mystical Space Typhoon

1 x Snatch Steal

1 x Heavy Storm

1 x Swords of Revealing Light

1 x Book of Moon

1 x Ultimate Offering

1 x Mirror Force

1 x Torrential Tribute

1 x Ring of Destruction

1 x Call of the Haunted

Alright yo. So that was my current deck (other than the Megarock Dragon deck) before I tweaked it a bit. Onto my fixes to my very odd Draw Engine deck.

-2 Bokoichi the Freightening Car

+2 Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive

Reasoning: Well...after a good amount of testing, Boko just began to suck. So I ditched both of him for 2 Dekoichi since he's a solid card and draw for that matter. The stats were better, the look is better, and the effect is better, obviously. So he was switched.

-1 Card Destruction

+1 Delinquent Duo

Reasoning: This was more of a "try it out and see how it goes" thing for me. I usually ended up handing them Chaos fodder, or rarely hitting an Envoy of the Beginning when I wanted to. I added in Delinquent Duo for the hand disruption for a minor cost. Very good idea on my part. I thank myself, and others who slapped me for not having Duo in this deck.

-2 Level Limit-Area B

+2 Messenger of Peace

Reasoning: This was one of my more serious fixes. Level Limit was only a hinderance when I could have ended the game of various situations, at one game I particularly remembered using my own Breaker to "break" my Level Limit. Sad indeed. Messenger of Peace is a more broad approach to stalling, thus I added it, for its small payment and synergy (overall) with the deck.

-1 Wave-Motion Cannon

-1 Smashing Ground

+1 Book of Moon

+1 Phoenix Wing Wind Blast

Reasoning: 2 Wave-Motion Cannon was obviously too much. So I dropped it to one, which has proved to be better overall. I dropped a Smashing Ground for the more versatile Book of Moon. Whilst Smashing can clear the field, Book of Moon can do this, and various other things in more tight situations. Phoenix Wing Wind Blast was added for the new uprising of self replenishing monsters (Thank you Jaelove) and to stall off oppenents. I've also used it to sweep away Magics or Traps when I know I've got the game won. Adding this was a very good choice indeed.

-1 Ultimate Offering

+1 Phoenix Wing Wind Blast

Reasoning: OK, you ask yourself: Why the heck would WiCkEd use Ultimate Offering? Well, in the first variation of this deck I used 3 3-Humped Lacoodas for the fun of it and Ultimate Offering was amazing, time rolled on and it worked decent with good old Bokoichi too. But, I've found it has finally lost its touch and I'm ditching it for another Phoenix Wing Wind Blast.

So, the final copy of my fixed deck is...

1 x Airknight Parshath

3 x Dekoichi the Battlechanted Locomotive

2 x Des Lacooda

2 x Magician of Faith

2 x Tsukuyomi

1 x Asura Priest

1 x Sangan

1 x Breaker the Magical Warrior

1 x Tribe-Infecting Virus

1 x Sinister Serpent

1 x Pot of Greed

1 x Graceful Charity

1 x Delinquent Duo

2 x Scapegoat

2 x Metamorphosis

1 x Wave-Motion Cannon

2 x Messenger of Peace

1 x Smashing Ground

2 x Nobleman of Crossout

1 x Mystical Space Typhoon

1 x Snatch Steal

1 x Heavy Storm

1 x Swords of Revealing Light

2 x Book of Moon

2 x Phoenix Wing Wind Blast

1 x Mirror Force

1 x Torrential Tribute

1 x Ring of Destruction

1 x Call of the Haunted

Fusion Deck:

3 x of EVERY SINGLE FUSION (I'm going overboard, I know this)

TOTAL: 40 Cards

So, before I go, I'll explain how I play my deck a little bit. There's the obvious Goat Control in it, which is seen instantly. But the overall theme is keep drawing until you have what you need to finish your opponent, or cut off one of their main resources. Of course, with this deck your hand size should NEVER, EVER drop below 3 cards. Its built to never lose hand advantage. Competitively, its built to last even though it doesn't run Black Luster Soldier-Envoy of the Beginning. You'd be suprised where a little originality can get you. You'd play part of the deck like you would play Goat Control, aggressive or defensive, considering the situation. The other half is completely defensive whilst drawing cards aggressively. The deck is VERY competitive (I went to local tourney and went 9-0 with this variation). Thus...I conclude my article. Stay tuned for more articles this week. = )

Until Next Time,

WiCkEd
