Deck Fix: Spellcasters
June 23, 2005

Hello again readers! I've returned with a new deck to fix. I hope you all enjoyed my article, there was TONS of positive feedback, I'm hoping there will be more as time rolls on. You'll all have something to look forward to next week, I'll be doing 2 articles instead of Deck Fixes, and they'll be TLM based decks. Hmm...I can feel your brain bubbling with thought as you read that, nice isn't it? = ) Onto the deck!

Hi, I'm Himura363 on Pojos. I was hoping you could fix my Mage Deck.
Here it is:

Jinzo
Dark Magician of Chaos
Chaos Sorcerer
Magician of Faith x3
Old Vindictive Magician
Apprentice Magician
Sangan
Sinister Serpent
Cyber Jar
Tribe-Infecting Virus
Injection Fairy Lily
Breaker-The Magical Warrior
Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer x2
D. D. Warrior Lady
Blade Knight
Pot of Greed
Graceful Charity
Soul Release
Mystical Space Typhoon
Heavy Storm
Nobleman of Crossout x2
Swords of Revealing Light
Snatch Steal
Premature Burial
Metamorphosis x2
Dimension Fusion
Scapegoat
Book of Moon
Smashing Ground
Lightning Vortex
Torrential Tribute
Call of the Haunted
Ring of Destruction
Bottomless Trap Hole
Ceasefire
Fusion Deck:
Thousand Eyes Restrict x2
Ojama King
Ryu Senshi
Punished Eagle
Super Robolady
Dark Blade the Dragon Knight
I know my Fusion Deck looks odd, but I don't have many other cards to choose from. I also don't have a side deck.
Can you help me with my Deck, and make me a Side Deck?

Very good start to a Spellcaster deck...we're going to make it a bit more competitive, and assemble a tourney viable side deck for you to run. Let's begin with monsters!

-1 Jinzo (we're siding him)
+1 Apprentice Magician

Reasoning: Jinzo is more side deck-able now since no one is running a massive amount of Traps. Should you be playing Burners, etc, etc. And you feel you need it, side it in. We're adding Apprentice Magician to speed the deck along, provide another counter for Breaker the Magical Warrior, and snag Magician of Faith or Old Vindictive Magician.

-1 Magician of Faith
+1 Old Vindictive Magician

Reasoning: 3 Magicians of Faith is a bit much don't you think?? = ). Adding in Old Vindictive Magician is more monster removal and is easily accessed. Apprentice Magician speeds it out, so I strongly suggest running 2 of each "Magician" that can be searched via Apprentice.

-1 Blade Knight
+1 Chaos Sorceror

Reasoning: Yes, yes, I know you readers are thinking "Why is he adding another Chaos Sorceror if he hates Chaos?". Simple, it fits this theme well. Let's also get one thing clear: THIS DOES NOT MEAN YOU SEND CHAOS DECKS AND IT DOES NOT MEAN I ADD CHAOS TO DECKS! Thank you. ::settles down:: Anyways, he's added removal and a decent attacker for the most part.

So, although the final line-up is tight on Chaos, here it is.

1 x Dark Magician of Chaos
2 x Chaos Sorceror

2 x Magician of Faith
2 x Apprentice Magician
2 x Old Vindictive Magician
1 x Sangan
1 x Sinister Serpent
1 x Cyber Jar
1 x Tribe-Infecting Virus
1 x Injection Fairy Lily
1 x D.D. Warrior Lady
1 x Breaker the Magical Warrior
2 x Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer

Onto Magics and Traps.

-1 Soul Release
-1 Dimension Fusion
+1 Delinquent Duo
+1 Scapegoat

Reasoning: Soul Release and Dimension Fusion really don't support the theme as a whole. We're dropping them for Delinquent Duo, which gives you hand advantage for 1000 LP, and Scapegoat. Spellcaster decks typically are delicate monster wise, they can hold up only so much before they hit the limit, then they give out. Scapegoat is around to keep the field in your advantage, and supports your morphability more.

-1 Bottomless Trap Hole
+1 Mirror Force

Reasoning: This is an optional fix, although I highly recommend it. Its entirely up to you, I know you know what they do, so there really isn't a point in explaining this one. = )

The Fusion deck is fine if thats what you have to work with, just work on getting an ample Fusion deck around.

Final Magic and Trap line-up is...

1 x Swords of Revealing Light
1 x Delinquent Duo
1 x Pot of Greed
1 x Graceful Charity
2 x Metamorphosis
1 x Book of Moon
1 x Mystical Space Typhoon
2 x Nobleman of Crossout
1 x Snatch Steal
1 x Premature Burial
1 x Heavy Storm
2 x Scapegoat
1 x Smashing Ground
1 x Lightning Vortex

1 x Torrential Tribute
1 x Call of the Haunted
1 x Mirror Force/ Bottomless Trap Hole
1 x Ceasefire
1 x Ring of Destruction

FINAL DECK

1 x Dark Magician of Chaos
2 x Chaos Sorceror

2 x Magician of Faith
2 x Apprentice Magician
2 x Old Vindictive Magician
1 x Sangan
1 x Sinister Serpent
1 x Cyber Jar
1 x Tribe-Infecting Virus
1 x Injection Fairy Lily
1 x D.D. Warrior Lady
1 x Breaker the Magical Warrior
2 x Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer

1 x Swords of Revealing Light
1 x Delinquent Duo
1 x Pot of Greed
1 x Graceful Charity
2 x Metamorphosis
1 x Book of Moon
1 x Mystical Space Typhoon
2 x Nobleman of Crossout
1 x Snatch Steal
1 x Premature Burial
1 x Heavy Storm
2 x Scapegoat
1 x Smashing Ground
1 x Lightning Vortex

1 x Torrential Tribute
1 x Call of the Haunted
1 x Mirror Force/ Bottomless Trap Hole
1 x Ceasefire
1 x Ring of Destruction

TOTAL: 40 cards.

Hope you enjoyed the fix. Keep the decks coming, there will be one more fix this week if I can push myself to do it and get past my schedule. Laterz guys!
