Dragon Deck fix (deck fixing, a first from me) - fridginators

From: "Azza Fridginators" <shiny_golden_boy@hotmail.com>
Date: Mon, 11 Jul 2005 16:16:46 +1000

Ok so i have got my groove back, I'm gonna start doing more. Unfortunately my schoolwork is kinda suffering cos of Yugioh but anyway, 2 weeks of holidays are up in 1 week so I'll be writing about 4-5 articles then. Sorry but the days of 4 articles in one go are gone :( but anyway.

Dragons, unfortunately, while they have PLENTY of support, not a lot of it is playable. Do you know that the best dragon in the game is Luster Dragon?
That's rather sad. But Horus decks are plenty much playable (see what i mean about schoolwork? Well actually i did well in English), indeed one of the UK top 8'ers used 2 horus lv6's and 1 horus lv8 with BLS. Stupid BLS, but on the plus side I won a tourney just yesterday. Go Strike Ninja! I will probably be doing an article on him, he is awsome.

Now i got this Dragon deck from the brother of a guy who's deck i fixed, Greg Louse/Michael Sherry, whatever his name is. Frankly, its pretty crap.
Here's the list.

monster: 25

armed dragon lv3 x3
red-eyes black chick x2
chiron the mage
lord of dragon x3
blue-eyes white dragon x2
armed dragon lv5 x3
kaiser sea horse
luster dragon x2
luster dragon 2
the dragon dwelling in the cave
twin-headed behemoth
masked dragon x2
red-eyes black dragon x2
red-eyes darkness dragon

traps: 10

the dragons bead
spellbinding circle
raigeki break
cemetery bomb
really eternal rest
dragons rage
dna surgery
mask of weakness
bottomless trap hole
nutrient z

spells: 10

the flute of summoning dragon x3
different dimension capsule
back to square one
premature burial
hron of the unicorn
swords of revealing light
mystical space typhoon
stamping destruction

Not exactly top tier hey? Dont worry, brother of the guy i previously mentioned, soon this will be a top tier deck that can compete with anything.

Monsters:

Ok, in ANY deck I make that relies on attacking the opponent to kill them, I will run

Breaker the Magical Warrior
Tribe Infecting Virus
Sinister Serpent

Generally I will run

Sangan

as well. In fact, Serpent is a STAPLE from me, except in those weird FTK or Mill decks.

Horus decks = need of Horus Dragons.

Horus the Black Flame Dragon lv4 x2
Horus the Black Flame Dragon lv6 x2
Horus the Black Flame Dragon lv8 x2

Good proportions of each. If you are bogged down with those Horus', drop a lv8.

Ok, we have the Dragons and the Monster Staples. Now, we need to form the Control aspect of the deck, along with some field presence (btw, Control is the coolest concept ever. ANY deck is good as control).

Now methinks we convert to the metagame. That involves running Tsukuyomi's and Magician of Faith's. But nah, Tsuku doesn't fit in this deck. We will just run

Magician of Faith x2

Faiths are exemplary monsters, also they make up the entire metagame. Just flip Faith for Pot/Graceful/Delinquent and the game is handed to you on a golden platter.

Morphing Jar

Yes the theme is Control but this is not a full Hand Control deck. We are only running 1 Reaper (see below) and 2 Faiths for the discarding/recursion.
If i was running Night Assailants/Thunder Dragons, Morphing Jar probably wouldnt go in. But this isnt Hand Control, just Horus Control. Run the damn Jar and like it and also, DON'T run the stupid DB2 version and actually take some time and effort to get a TP4 or TP2 version.

Now for some beatdown force. And removal. Oh no, i cant guess whats coming!

D. D. Warrior Lady
D. D. Assailant x2

Argh i see too much praise of D.D.Warrior Lady and too much cookie cutterism with D.D.Assailant. Sheesh if i could have got some before the new ban list i would have run them. It's better than D.D.Warrior Lady since Tribe, Blade Knight and Breaker all see either universal play or just really popular play. It's basically regardless if DDWL is light since it will be RFG'd, i mean it helps but most of the time it wont matter. Also, i would much rather Sangan a Tsukuyomi, Serpent or Faith. DDWL being optional is only good against Reaper, Sangan and Serpent or some other roadblocks if you have tons of monsters. But enough rambling about the D.D.'s, its time to put in the last addition to this deck.

Spirit Reaper

Since Control is basically the best deck in existence (well basically any deck is control but when you add lets say a Don or a Reaper with some Faith's and Berserks/Blade Knights it becomes really good) it means that discarding cards and increasing your own is the best. We already have 2 Faiths so lets get some discarding with Reaper.

Total Monsters: 17

Note: "Dont think i have enough monsters with Sangan? Take it out and run something like Mirage Dragon if you do."

Spells:

Pot of Greed
Graceful Charity
Delinquent Duo
Heavy Storm
Mystical Space Typhoon
Snatch Steal
Premature Burial

Need i explain? Ok the last five aren't staples but in any deck the revolves around killing life points, THEY ARE STAPLES. Well not exactly but you get the picture.

Swords of Revealing Light
Nobleman of Crossout x2
Lightning Vortex

Ok those before were all near staples (except pot and graceful) while there are all High Use cards. Hmm, Staples, High Use, Inexplicable and Themed. Lol perhaps i should use that.

Level Up x2

Just a bit of Level support. Horus Lv8 is the key to the deck so you need to get him out as fast as you can. Oh and remember that you cant revive Lv8.
I'm rambling like i always do.

Now for the other 3 spell slots, we will add quickplays as a source of defence.

Book of Moon x2
Scapegoat

For those netdeckers, i am not running morph so there is no point in 3 scapegoats. Since i want to run 7 traps i need to make some room. Book of Moon is handy for saving your Horus' and it works well offensively and defensively. Scapegoat will just help your field presence. Scapegoat is a great card, i know that but it is used a bit too much than is healthy and besides this is a relatively beatdownish control deck. Not aggro though.

Total Spells: 16

Note: "Yes i am not running Stamping Destruction. EMoD has shown me the light, it isnt that great since we all run Quickplays or Traps that are either chainable or activate when a monster is summoned. Besides, only 6 dragons."

Traps:

Ring of Destruction
Call of the Haunted
Mirror Force
Torrential Tribute

All of these of course are very very helpful traps. They should be run almost everywhere. Not to be a cookie cutter guy, but unless you are completely strapped for room or run an alternate win deck, you should run these four traps. Torrential is the worst of the four but if you are running like 2 Decrees and want to run 4 traps, i suggest kicking Ring next.
Although it is the best trap, Mirror Force and Call provide elements which are more needed.

The last three traps should be simple to anyone with a half a brain.

Solemn Judgement x3

Yes I'm Australia so its Judgement for me. Besides, Solemn + Horus lv8 + Decent Attack Force = Good Game. Solemn is better than Decree for a horus deck. So sue me.

Total Traps: 7

Horus Control made by the fridginator: 40 cards.

Monsters: 17

(2) Horus the Black Flame Dragon Lv8
(2) Horus the Black Flame Dragon Lv6

(2) D.D.Assailant
(2) Horus the Black Flame Dragon Lv4
(1) Breaker the Magical Warrior
(1) Tribe Infecting Virus
(1) D.D.Warrior Lady
(1) Sangan
(1) Morphing Jar
(2) Magician of Faith
(1) Sinister Serpent
(1) Spirit Reaper

Spells: 16

(1) Pot of Greed
(1) Graceful Charity
(1) Delinquent Duo
(1) Heavy Storm
(1) Mystical Space Typhoon
(1) Snatch Steal
(1) Premature Burial
(2) Nobleman of Crossout
(1) Lightning Vortex
(1) Swords of Revealing Light
(1) Scapegoat
(2) Book of Moon
(2) Level Up

Traps: 7

(1) Ring of Destruction
(1) Call of the Haunted
(1) Mirror Force
(1) Torrential Tribute
(3) Solemn Judgement

So this is the new Horus Control deck. Quite an improvement from the old deck. But, if you want to be a good duelist, you have to know your stuff. I mean you could have every card in the game and make the best deck in the world, but it could just fail miserably if you suck. Thats why i like Pojos.
It made me from an "alright" player, to a "fully sick hardcore pro". Ok I'm not as great as that. But i am good, as tons of you must admit. If you don't, then why do people want my deck fixes? Why do i even bother posting on pojos? What do i get out of it? I mean, it just wastes my time and makes me fret. Nobody really likes to read their own work since they know whats happening? I feel like I'm taking crazy pills!

This stupid and pointless deck fix was brought to you by the fridginator, who is currently wondering if he is referred to as Azza or Fridginators and is absolutely addicted to Warcraft.

shiny_golden_boy@hotmail.com and I'm still waiting for Tranorix to make me a COTD reviewer or a columnist. Also, if you know all the information about the Public Preview of Yugioh Online, please help me. I don't know how long it lasts for and my best level four monster is "The Stern Mystic".

I'll be rambling on about Airknight Parshath soon enough, also with Dark Magician of Chaos and some other stuff. My newest deck is a Tsukuyomi/Thousand Eyes/Trample deck. Seriously, you combine all of Tsukuyomi's powers into one! Magician of Faith, Thousand Eyes Restrict and Airknight, Mefist, Enraged and Beserk Gorilla. Awesomeness.

azza / fridginators
Won't you play with my Ding a Ling........... I mean;

The Babel Fish has an odd effect, when you put it in your ear you can instantly understand anything said to you in any form of language. Now this is so highly bizzare so many have seen it as the final clinching proof of the non existance of god. The argument goes like this:

"I refuse to proove I exist," Says God. "For proof denies faith and without faith i am nothing."
"But," Says Man. "The Babel Fish is a dead give away. It prooves you exist and therefore you dont. QED."
"Oh," Says God. "I hadn't thought of that," And promptly vanishes in a puff of logic.
"Oh that was easy," Says Man and for an encore goes to prove that black is white and gets killed on the next zebra crossing.

I like the hitch hikers guide to the galaxy
