Tebezu on YuGiOh
Anode's, Cathode's, E-Hero's, oh my. Destruction, Power, you're in for a Fun Ride!
May 8, 2007

I recently had a dream that involved me being held at gun point by terrorist.  This in and of itself I assume one may call a nightmare but the truth is that the dream provided my body an avenue in which it was not in control.  The very decision of my existence lay in the hands of another person.  I remembered my heart beating fast, my knees clenching.  I remember running through a door, trying to escape from those wretched souls who believed it their duty to kill me and all those around me.  I remember thinking how I suddenly related to those still held captive in the building I escaped.  Before the event they were but other people, numbers, nothing of significance.  But the instant our lives were threatened I was instantly part of a group.  We were no longer different but part of the same mold.  We were people whose only concern in the world at that moment was to live.   I remember escaping only to run into others involved in the disgusting situation.  My heart began to beat faster, my fight senses conflicting with logic.  If I were to act in a manner of self preservation that would indirectly lead to my demise.  Yet if I did nothing and cooperated with these self acclaimed hero's, that too would lead to my demise.  I know it was but a dream but it seemed real, too real.  The very situation was nothing but contradiction, the whole event made me feel like someones tool.  I remember two terrorist standing next to me negotiating my future circumstances.  One said I could go, the other agreed.  But in that very instant a gun was raised and a bullet pierced my neck.  My throat swelled, my neck became warm, and I woke to darkness.

All around each of us there exist an assumption the world is not safe.  Freedom is not free and thus enemies will always be about trying to steal it away.  Currently at war against terror the very concept of peace, tranquility, and the like is but a far fetched idea dreamed about in the minds of children.  If this dream showed me anything it is that power in any form is blood.  The power to accomplish any goal removes resources.  Power, corruption, and disagreement lead to real life death and destruction.  This dream reinforces my belief that mankind must function in a self destructive manner.  For even in my dazed imaginary death some idea was being followed, some belief was being executed, and I was a by-stander whose existence was not my own.  The ability for all of us to eat, work, drive, etc. requires a power struggle against all kinds of media.  Life is a pursuit of power.  Only without logic's aid will it consume us.

With all this thinking about self destructive behavior and the like I received an email from Rocky Kavallion.  We've been corresponding for sometime now about playable E-Hero decks and as of yesterday I received a version I liked that involved self destructive behavior.  Milling ones own deck is both risky and rewarding.  We risk losing vital cards but we also provide ourselves with free resources and the ability to manipulate our graveyards.

This morning I messed around with what he provided and manipulated it a bit.  Using his backbone and ideas I ended up with this list.

Now this deck is in no way perfect but it does provide a directed view as to how an E-Hero deck can function best.  The problem with this theme is that a lot of good and bad support exist and as such implies deck space is limited.  Almost every deck in existence has a pattern it follows and the challenge is discovering a way to make the new and old compatible.  Some of the ideas Rocky spoke on included return engines, Earth-Hex Seal Fusion, etc.  But one of the beauties of E-Hero/D-Hero is that due to their huge variety they offer players multiple ways to fit them into play styles all their own.  E-Hero Ocean, which just came out works ridiculously well with Skyscraper-2.  Destiny Draw and Dasher provide players an avenue to run 3300, 3000, etc. monsters without any costs.

This new format is shaping up to be a defense orientated one if your not playing an OTK.  Even Card Trooper (which sees play in dragon return, (Once I get my third, XYZ Dragon Cannon), Six Samurai, etc.) is still being used as a bluff to draw out monarch effects or fuel graveyards for various return engines.  D.D. Assailant and D.D. Warrior Lady have started to drop off the map completely.  The only reason they are in this deck is due to Reinforcements of the Army.  These cards (some of the best in my opinion) are no longer inherit 1 for 1's.  With gadgets, demise, DDT, Stratos, and a plethora of other self replacing monsters jumping up all over the place these warriors have taken a sideline seat.  Monarch decks are the poor mans choice and zaborg, granmarg, soul exchange, brain control, etc. make these kinds of monsters useless.  The new chaos monsters (which I think will just be a phase) are another example of the warriors fall from grace.  Increase use in Gravekeeper's Spy hurt aggressive cards as well as the giant germs everyone will be running.

As an extra bonus for you all reading this ridiculously long article I've included a batteryman deck developed by a pojo fan using the alias Tsunamiboy!  I've been wanting to do an article on batteryman for some time now, but could not think of a way to make it work.  Thus the following deck is all his because you don't fix what isn't broken.

I've been messing around with Cyberdark monsters and plan on having an article on them sometime within the near future.  I am currently interested in building a Gem Beast deck.  Thus if anyone wants to trade me a Sapphire Pegasus, Rare Value, etc. hit me up.

As always I'm looking for creative duelist with interesting ideas.  I can be contacted at....
