Article: 2 of 5: Gravekeepers 007
December 23, 2005

Howdy howdy howdy all. Despite my constant use the word 'howdy', I am in no way a Texan, or a hillbilly. Please stop e-mailing with that specific question. Seriously, it's getting annoying.

Anyway, todays card will be the illustrious Gravekeepers Spy. A card that just kinda slipped into the decks of the best. It's not mystery why though, as this thing provides both field and deck advantage. First off though, let's take a look at the card itself.

PGD-059
Gravekeeper’s Spy
Dark/Spellcaster/4 stars/ATK 1200/DEF 2000
FLIP: Select 1 monster that includes “Gravekeeper’s” in its card name with an ATK of 1500 or less from your Deck and Special Summon it in face-up Attack or Defense Position. The Deck is then shuffled.

Well at first glance, the card honestly looks crappy outside a GK deck. Quite untrue however, as it can search itself. Run two, and you've got a pair of 2000 DEF Dark monsters that give you field presense, and work well for tribute monsters. Chances are your opponant will hit this with a used Breaker, or perhaps and DD Assailant. That's about 3-400 damage, and another monster on your side of the field. Not only is it's DEF considerable, but it has 1200 ATK. Which means it can kill a handful of monsters commonly run. Granted they'll be facedown most times. It can do a bit of damage direct. Plus, with the chances of there being two on your side of the field being rather good, you could hit for 2400 direct. Or sac one for Mobius, knock out two MT, and hit for 3600 damage. Not bad at all.

One of the best things about this monster, is that it thins the deck without giving you a monster that's likely to die in a turn. It's advantage in every way you look. It's also Chaos Food, which works well, since often you'll be thinning the deck for that Chaos Sorcerer. If you've got a pair of em, and you're running any number of Chaos
Sorcerers, throw this gal in. She doesn't really work in tripples, since you'll most likely only her effect off once, but you can try. A deck featuring her and Dekoichi can lead to so serious speed. Toss in a Pot of Avarice and you'll be blasting through your deck (And coincidentally, your opponants defenses) like nothing. I like this girl, and I don't even run her.

Now before I end this, I have to point out how effective she in a Gravekeepers Deck. Let's put it this way: STAPLE. She is absolutely the greatest thing ever to hit GK's. I'd put three of her in before I'd put in three Necrovalley, and that seems really odd, but it's true.

Advanced: 8.5/10 (Field presense is great in this format)
Gravekeeper Deck: 10/10 (And this is in either format)
Traditional 7.5/10 (Surpringly high, but she does lead to better field presence and deck thining)
Art: 6.5/10 (Not the most exciting picture. She's a spy, we get it already.)

And now please let me introduce my guest, a good duelist and a friend of mine, AzIanPaNDe:

Gravekeeper’s Spy

Whats up guys :o the azian panda is here XP.
I'm going to review gravekeepers spy today. This card is really good :p. High defense which stops most things in this format accept cyber dragons and tributes <_<. Spies can also save u from a massive swarm, tribute food, and deck thinning, also they're sexy ninjas.

This card is a staple in soul control and if your running 2 tributes you should try these puppies out. I’ve play tested these gems in the bazoo RTfDD and they saved me so many times. You can also set up a turn 3 swarm attack by setting on first turn with a mst or dust, Then they attack it get another 1 they take 200 lifepoints or more and then mst then draw rota for don or summon reaper or a beatdown monster and lay the hurt on them. Spies also give you a +1 on the field. Spies are really great in this format and you guys should try them out.

Advanced:4/5
Traditional: there are better options .... 2/5

Well that's it for today ladies and gents, until next time. I'll most likely have all my articles up by Friday.

- David "BobDole" Hoffman & AzianPanda

Notes: I'm never letting friends write reviews again...
