I recieved some good response to my last article, "An Ectoplasmer Challenge." So much response, in fact, that I had some trouble with my email. Anyway, some of it was obvious stuff I already knew like Des Wombat.
However, there was one deck idea that was not only original and unexpected, but may be playable. So I've decided to post the deck idea with explanation, fix it so it'll play better, and forward another challenge.

First thing's first, congradulations Rob F. you have the most original ecto deck idea I've ever seen. An ectoplasmer Exodia deck that uses Ectoplasmer and Emissary of the Afterlife to help draw the Exodia pieces would be quite unexpected. But the deck itself did need some work. Normally, I don't do deck fixes. A deck this exeptionally original deserves exeption from my No Deck Fix Rule.

Here's the deck as it was sent to me:

Monsters:17

exodia pieces

embissary of the afterlife x3
sangan
magician of faith x2
des lacooda x2
malice doll of demise x2
DMoC
airknight

Spells:15

pot of greed
graceful charity
wave motion cannon x2
ectoplasmer x2
premature burial
card of safe return x2
different dimension capsule x2
messenger of peace x3
double spell

Taps:7

jar of greed x3
good goblin housekeeping x2
call of the haunted
judgement of anubis

The idea is solid, the execution is not. I'll explain how this deck should work after the fix. Here's fixed deck:

Monsters: 18

the 5 Exodia pieces
Emissary of the AfterlifeX3
Sangan
Des LacoodaX2
Malice Doll of DemiseX3
Magician of FaithX2
Kycoo the Ghost Destroyer
Airknight

Spells: 14

pot of greed
Graceful charity
Wave motion cannonX2
EctoplasmerX3
Premature Burial
Card of Safe ReturnX2
Nobleman of Crossout
Messenger of PeaceX3

Traps: 8

Jar of GreedX3
Good Goblin HousekeepingX2
Call of the Haunted
Curse of RoyalX2

Now, any ectoplasmer deck should be centered around the repeated tribute of the malice doll, either to cause damage, maintain field presence, or in this case as abused special summoning from the graveyard for card of safe return.
There is also Emissary of the Afterlife to directly pull exodia pieces and sangan. Then comes Des Lacooda, a flip-up flip-down that boosts drawing.
Airknight should be an abvious choice for an offensive Exodia (which this is ironically). Now DMoC needs to go. I apologize to anyone I offend by that.
He just won't work here. Exodia decks are plauged by low field presence.
Replace him with a Kycoo. Kycoo will help protect your Malice doll that's in the grave for the opponent's turn. That covers monters.

As for spells, his choices looked good with a few exceptions. He didn't have enough Ectoplasmers. I added one more. Two Wave Motion Cannons are a good idea. WMC changes the pace of the game for your opponent. And they'll stop worrying about Ectoplasmer and Exodia for the potential one hit kill.
Different Dimention Capsule is too risky without proper protection. Out with D.D. Capsule. I added Nobleman of Crossout because any ecto deck needs facedown management in at least some form. Normally, I don't like Card of Safe Return. However, this deck provides numerous opportunities to abuse the draw effect. Finally, his 3 Messengers of Peace looked like a good idea. Any exodia deck is going to be plauged by low field presence. Having a defence card that can be turned off at will is a necessity in this deck.

Lastly are the traps. I had only one change to make to the trap lineup.
Exchange one Judgement of Anubis for 2 Curse of Royal. Curse of Royal has no cost and stops anything that destroys spells or traps (including--Konami forbid--Chaos Emperor Dragon). Judgement, while powerful in some eyes, doesn't do the job as well as Curse of Royal.

I'm not sure how a deck like this would play. Tinker with it...a lot. A deck like this should try to either get all five pieces of exodia or finish the opponent with wave motion cannon. Either way is an instant win condition. You may decide to add or drop something that doesn't work like you thought it would. Either way, your opponent will be confused as all hell.

Anyway, now for the next test of your originality. This time, I'm just going to hand you a card.
Reaper on the Nightmare-Dark, Zombie/Fusion/Effect, LV5, A(800) D(600), Spirit Reaper + Nightmare Horse This monster is not destroyed as a result of battle at any time although damage calculation is applied normally. When this card is specifically designated as a target of the effect of a Spell, Trap, or Effect Monster Card, this card is immediately destroyed. This monster can attack your opponent''s Life Points directly even if there is a monster on your opponent''s side of the field. When this card attacks your opponent''s Life Points directly, 1 card is randomly selected from your opponent''s hand and discarded to the Graveyard.
Wow!! That. Is. A. Long. Effect.
Anyway, try and come up with a deck that centers around this card. My email is at the bottom. Email any good ideas to me. If you can impress me, you get an imaginnary cookie.

Good luck,

Jonathan Ondracek
