An Ectoplasmer challenge-Jonathan Ondracek

From: "Jonathan Ondracek" <jonathanondracek19@hotmail.com>

I recieved some good response to my last article. So I decided to write another one. This time, instead of a rant, I decided to test the creativity of the few readers I've got.

One of my favorite cards, Ectoplasmer, sees so little play that it's ridiculous. So many times, I've heard the words, "Ectoplasmer? What does that do?" After I finish explaining, they usually say, "So then, I...uhh.
Oh crap." They say that because they realize, they have no clue how to deal with it.

Now for those of you that don't know: Ectoplasmer, [Continuous Spell], Only once during each player's End Phase, each player Tributes 1 face-up monster on his/her side of the field and inflicts damage to hte opponent's Life Points equal to half of the original ATK of the Tributed monster.

Now why would anybody want to run a card like this? Well, mainly because of the common from Soul of the Duelist called Malice Doll of Demise. Can you say Burn/Field control combo? At the least it forces your opponent to either A) summon monsters when they're not used to and eventually use up their hand or B) set all their monsters face down.

An Ectoplasmer deck does several things. 1) It changes the gameplay with a new mechanic that your opponent may or may not try to get rid of. 2) It burns your opponent. 3) It helps to clear their field. 4) Makes them hesitent to attack. This lets you attack with little to fear and aids in the quick elimination of your opponents life points.

A deck that runs Ectoplasmer will want high ORIGINAL ATK monsters, 3X Malice Doll of Demise, and other means of doing burn damage.

Certain cards benefit Ectoplasmer decks: GAF, Giant Orc, Soul Exchange, Ceasefire, Spear Dragon, and Zombyra the Dark to name a few. Oh, and Lava Golem becomes just plain wrong with Ectoplasmer, too evil not to mention.

Now certain cards DO NOT benefit an Ectoplasmer deck. Fusiller Dragon the Dual Mode Beast, most equips, and Horus LV6 or LV8 to name a few.

I've been playing an Ectoplasmer deck since Soul of the Duelist came out and have had quite some success with it. I've been tweaking it for a while.
Actually, I'm still tweaking it. And that leads me into my problem. An Ectoplasmer deck is very original. So original in fact that I've had to wrack my brain just to figure out what works with it and what doesn't. The problem is I'm out of ideas.

Currently, I run it as a Control that does some Burn and Beatdown on the side. I'll NOT post my decklist and spare you the hassle of trying to figure out how the deck works. I built the thing and I have trouble figuring out how it works.

So, I'm challenging you dear readers. Think, what can work in an Ectoplasmer deck? Heh, design an Ecto deck of your own if you want. Any help you can give is greatly appreciated.
