Budget Lightsworn Deck - Summer 2014 - by Baneful
August 21, 2014

Those who are looking to build a deck on a budget should consider buying 3 copies of the Realm of Light Structure Deck.  It's full of great cards, all-around, but you could build a decent deck out of three that could win casual games and do well at a small locals.

Monsters – 29

3 Judgment Dragon

2 Lightray Diabolos

3 Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn

3 Lyla, Lightsworn Sorceress

3 Lumina, Lightsworn Sorceress

2 Garoth, Lightsworn Warrior

2 Wulf, Lightsworn Beast

2 Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter

2 Ehren, Lightsworn Monk

1 Minerva, Lightsworn Maiden

1 Jain, Lightsworn Paladin

3 Necro Gardna

1 Blackwing, Zephyros the Elite

1 Honest

Ideally, your opening combo in the duel should be Lumina + Garoth so you can mill 5 and possibly draw 1.  Raiden is a good all-around beater/tuner/miller.  Lyla is excellent for Spell/Trap removal.  That's big nowadays.  Minerva and Jain are mostly used to help Judgment Dragon, but Minerva is a tuner and Jain can be a nice 2100 ATK beater.  Ehren is a bit underrated, as she is good against Shaddolls and their defense monsters.  Zephyros and Necro Gardna are good to discard and mill to activate their effects.

Spells - 7

3 Solar Recharge

1 Charge of the Light Brigade

1 Monster Reincarnation

1 Lightsworn Sanctuary

1 Foolish Burial

Consists of the basic Lightsworn spell line-up that most competitive players use with this deck.  I decided to add Lightsworn Sanctuary, for the purpose of this budget deck, to give it more of a toolbox vibe.  Helps you bring back a Lumina you might have milled to help the deck's consistency or a Lyla if you need Spell/Trap removal.

Traps – 4

3 Breakthrough Skill

1 Beckoning Light

Breakthrough is really important in the format of ignition and on-summon effects.  It also can hit continuous monster effects when milled.  Beckoning Light is good for dumping cards you want in the graveyard while adding strong monster like Judgment Dragon and Honest to your hand.

Side Deck – 15

1 Lightray Diabolos

2 Celestia, Lightsworn Angel

1 Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter

1 Ehren, Lightsowrn Monk

2 Skill Successor

1 Lightsworn Sanctuary

1 Beckoning Light

2 Glorious Illusion

2 Vanquishing Light

2 Lightsworn Barrier

Basically a mish-mash of leftovers.  Celestia and Ryko punish stall-y decks.  Ehren punishes defensive decks.  And the traps near the end of the list may be good against certain matchups as well.  This side is nothing special, but better than nothing I suppose.

Extra Deck – 3

Michael, the Arch Lightsworn

It's a LV7.  Raiden + Lumina or Minerva + a LV4 monster.  Good removal option with sizable attack.

If you want to spend a bit more, I recommend 3 copies of Eclipse Wyvern and the Dragon Ruler monsters, but overall, this may be the best Structure Deck to ever come out.  A great bargain for your money.  It's hard to make a deck this good for just $30-35.
