Hello Pojo Fans,

Wynn the Wind Channeler is a Charmer that is a little different from its Familiar Possessed version

Level 5 doesn’t give it any synergy with the typical Level 4 monsters of the archetype. A -1 off the discard search (which requires another WIND monster), then you are locked into WIND effects for the turn. Special summon ability off battle destruction of another WIND monster gives you one option of how to summon her, but with only 1850ATK you wonder if she is even worth summoning. With no grave effect you don’t get anything beneficial off her discard for the search. It feels like Wynn, this version, falls short of helping even WIND monsters. Being a Charmer doesn’t even help her because you are running multiple Attributes, not just WIND monsters. The lock-in restriction we’ve seen before, and since you’d run her strictly in a WIND deck that won’t hold you back, but I feel Wynn needed something else to make her worth the while in any WIND strategy.

Advanced-3/5- Would be less but Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms is not banned and can be summoned off Wynn’s discard.

Taking a break from the Structure Deck to see the other Charmer and Familiar-Possessed support we’ve received over the last year-plus we get to the only Channeler we have for now, Wynn the Wind Channeler.

Wynn the Wind Channeler is a Level 5 WIND Spellcaster with 1850 ATK and 1500 DEF. Level 4 stats aren’t too impressive on Level 5, but being a Spellcaster is nice and it’s WIND cause it tries to help WIND strategies. It’s always treated as a Charmer card cause they wanted the archetype synergy without giving up such a cool name. You can discard this card and another WIND Monster to search for any WIND Monster with 1500 or less DEF from the Deck, but you can only use the Monster Effects of WIND Monsters for the rest of the turn. Really cool and versatile search here, can create some scary combos potentially with the right WIND cards. Locking you to the Attribute was likely necessary here and will be necessary as we get the other Channelers potentially. The pool of Monsters to search is huge, so the possibilities are endless almost. You can’t search another Wynn the Wind Channeler, but I doubt you’d want to anyways when it’s a hard once per turn on both effects. The second hard once per turn is if a WIND Monster is destroyed by battle while this is in your hand, you can Special Summon this from hand. It’s a free body on board if you need it, but you might of likely discarded this for the search before a WIND Monster is destroyed in battle. This card is powerful mainly based on the first effect. Being able to search a whole Attribute with the only limitation being 1500 or less DEF seems powerful, and I can understand why Konami gave a card like this to the weakest of the 6 main Attributes first. The card has potential to be insane in many WIND strategies, even being a minus 1 at first. I’d experiment with this and see which WIND Decks benefit best from this.

Advanced Rating: 4.5/5

Art: 4.5/5 I see the Charmers are getting a second Familiar. Wonder if it’ll ever become a real card.

Hey look, it’s a Spellcaster with 1500 defense!  Wynn the Wind Channeler (also know as a Charmer card, appropriately enough for the player) is a Wind/Spellcaster, Level 5, with 1850 attack.  Wind has more support these days, though (at least on paper) requiring a Tribute for 1850 attack isn’t so great.  Discarding this card and another Wind Monster lets you add a Wind Monster with 1500 or less defense (not locked into 1500 this time) from your Deck to your Hand.  Discarding two cards just for one Monster is a -1, but if you’re using that card for various things, an Extra Deck play, a Link, whatever, and gain advantage of it via other effect, it’s not so bad all of a sudden.  You’re locked into only using Wind Monster effects for the rest of the turn, which fits the build, or at least should do so, so we won’t knock that.  If a Wind Monster you control is destroyed by Battle, you can Special Summon this card from your Hand.  Easy enough, and being able to replace a fallen Monster that quickly is appreciated.  The problem being there’s no effect here while this card is on the Field, so unless it survives past that turn, you won’t get to use it for much.  Decent card.
