The True Sun God – #MP22-EN0275

When this card is activated: Add 1 “The Winged Dragon of Ra” or 1 card that mentions it from your Deck to your hand, except “The True Sun God”. Monsters, except “The Winged Dragon of Ra”, cannot attack the turn they are Special Summoned. Once per turn, during your Main Phase: You can send this card from the field, or 1 “The Winged Dragon of Ra – Immortal Phoenix” from your Deck, to the GY, then send 1 “The Winged Dragon of Ra” from your Monster Zone to the GY. You can only activate 1 “The True Sun God” per turn.

As we move from Slifer to the most supported of the three Egyptian Gods, Ra, we look at his new Continuous Spell to make the Deck more consistent: The True Sun God. (Don’t worry, we’ll look at Obelisk next weekend as he has 2 new cards)

True Sun God is a Continuous Spell that on activation lets you add a The Winged Dragon of Ra or any card that mentions it in its text from your Deck to your hand, besides another copy of The True Sun God. So basically whatever support card for Ra you need, this immediately gets you to, and it’s nice to get a way to search The Winged Dragon of Ra – Sphere Mode to clear boards. All monsters, besides The Winged Dragon of Ra, cannot attack the turn they are Special Summoned, which is nice to at least block the opponent from attacking. With all the ways to bypass Ra’s restriction that says you can’t Special Summon him, saying a Special Summoned copy of The Winged Dragon of Ra can attack the turn it was summoned isn’t as contradictory as it seems on paper. Final effect is a soft once per turn to send this card to the graveyard, or a copy of The Winged Dragon of Ra – Immortal Phoenix from your Deck to the graveyard, to send a The Winged Dragon of Ra on your field to the graveyard. It sounds like something you wouldn’t want to do until you remember this is a way to summon Immortal Phoenix, which makes that card more playable than it previously was at least. Hard once per turn on activating this, mostly to limit the searching effect first mentioned. The True Sun God is another solid support piece for the most supported of the Egyptian Gods and is likely a mainstay in the Ra Decks out there.
