Hello Pojo Fans,

Superheavy Week coming at you guys as we focus on the Superheavy Samurai this week, starting with Superheavy Samurai Motorbike.

Functions like any other Superheavy Samurai monster, needing no Spell/Trap cards in the grave to have its effects online. This Level 2 Machine-Type is your new Tuner as well as a 1-for-1 discard to search out any Superheavy Samurai except itself. That is going to be its primary use: ditch and search whatever you want, and that is a simple and effective effect.

If you summon Motorbike, you can use it to increase a Machine monsters level by 2 during the turn, and once per turn only. Many Superheavy Samurai monsters have high levels already, but you do have a host of them that are Level 4 and below, so you could use this on itself as well as one of your lower monsters to help get its levels up to make summoning your bigger Synchro monsters easier. With four Synchro Monsters within the archetype at Level 9 and above, this effect helps reach them easier with just two monsters instead of more.

Superheavy Samurai Motorbike is going to be used most of the time as a search. It is a great search off the cuff and absolutely a card you want in the opening hand. The level boost is good and as a Tuner will aid itself and any other Superheavy Samurai you summon to get to your Synchro plays. It didn’t need that ability to be considered a must in the deck, but it doesn’t hurt to have it.

The archetype’s run at full power might of been short-lived, but the cards are still very good and interesting enough to cover, so we take a dive into Superheavy Samurai Week with Superheavy Samurai Motorbike.

Motorbike is a Level 2 EARTH Machine Tuner with 800 ATK and 1200 DEF. Stats are whatever for a Level 2, EARTH Machine always goes well together, and being a Tuner is good as always. The first effect can be used if you have no Spells/Traps in your graveyard, which is one of the gimmicks of Superheavy Samurais, letting you discard this card to add a Superheavy Samurai monster from Deck to hand that isn’t another Motorbike. Considering the archetype doesn’t want Spells or Traps in it, it’s fitting they get a discard effect for their generic archetype searcher, though not the only searcher. Before Scarecrow got banned, you could search for Superheavy Samurai Soulpiercer to use as Link Material, which would then get you another Superheavy Samurai to search, and Soulpiercer doesn’t have a hard once per turn clause. Even without Soulpiercer, you can search for a bunch of versatile options like Soulbreaker Armor for FTK attempts (which is harder to do now in the TCG and impossible due to the card being banned in the OCG to be fair), Scales to be able to have a monster that could Special Summon itself and revive a monster, Soulpeacemaker to turn any Superheavy Samurai into a Lonefire Blossom to summon another one, or the archetype’s Pendulum Scales. The search is the only hard once per turn effect, which is fine. The second just has a soft once per turn to increase the Level of a Machine monster you control by 2, which is nice Level Modulation to have for a Tuner to help make certain Synchros. Motorbike is a good consistency piece for the Superheavy Samurai archetype, making it fitting the OCG put it to 2 on the list they revealed yesterday. It becomes any other Superheavy Samurai and being able to revive it gives you a Tuner that can increase Levels to help make bigger Synchros. In the TCG you can still play 3 and it’s highly recommended you do since it’s very solid support.

Art: 2/5 I mean, it’s just a bike. Though I guess some of the other Superheavy Samurai artworks are super simple, mainly the Soul monsters.

This week covers the ill-fated Superheavy Samurai support in Cyberstorm Access. While the deck was putting up excellent results in the TCG, the recent banning of Superheavy Samurai Scarecrow unfortunately put an end to the deck’s competitive tenure a mere two weeks after it launched. Nonetheless, we’re still covering the excellent support wave, starting with Superheavy Samurai Motorbike, a level 2 EARTH Machine Tuner monster. As usual, being an EARTH Machine is always fantastic, as there are a myriad of ways to search EARTH Machine monster, and being a level 2 Tuner has a very special application we’ll get to later (incidentally, it has nothing to do with Spright). Predictably, its stats are a middling 800 attack and 1200 defense, which is commonplace for Tuner monsters.

Motorbike’s first effect is a hard once per turn, letting you discard it to search any Superheavy Samurai monster except itself as long as you have no Spells or Traps in your Graveyard, a mainstay restriction of the archetype. Most of the time, you’ll be searching the combo juggernaut that is Superheavy Samurai Prodigy Wakaushi, but if you already have it, any combo piece you’re missing will do. Notably, Motorbike searching Wakaushi can lead into a combo with Accel Synchro Stardust Dragon to make Baronne de Fleur without a Normal Summon, though the brick ratio for this specific combo is rather questionable. Motorbike’s other effect is a soft once per turn and is much simpler, letting you target any Machine monster you control and increase its level by 2. This effect is meant to help modulate levels for the high-level Superheavy Samurai Synchro monsters, though of course it’ll depend on what else is on the board. Being a ROTA for the archetype is fantastic alone, especially when accessing Wakaushi is more important than ever with the banning of Scarecrow, so Motorbike is a definitive 3-of for Superheavy Samurai.
